The MoonCats NFT collection was launched on August 9, 2017. During the launch, fans had to manually interact with the contract using Etherscan to acquire the NFTs due to issues with the MoonCats website. The only cost associated with acquiring a MoonCat was the gas fee. Within a few hours of launch, all 25,600 MoonCats NFTs were sold.The project has decentralized decision-making to some extent, as evidenced by Ponderware seeking the community's opinion on how to proceed with the release of the final 160 Genesis cats. The community also has the ability to create mini-franchises within the MoonCats environment
