SEC-S17W6 "Saving Humanity"

We are here in the sixth week of season 17 of the Steemit Engagement Challenge : "Saving Humanity". I normally never take part in medical or health related contests because my knowledge about medical terms is limited.

  
But this contest is different and I have seen a death in my family during my childhood so I decided to partake in this contest. I would like to thank @mahadisalim, @okere-blessing, and all the others who invited me here and I invite @waquarahmadshah, @josepha, and @jahangeerkhanday for sharing their views on this topic.

There is no single definitive answer to the worst disease, as its assessment depends on the individual and circumstances. However, some diseases that are often considered serious and life-threatening are:

*Cancer: This is the name for a group of diseases in which there is uncontrolled cell growth. There are many types of cancer, and they can be serious and complex.

*HIV/AIDS: This is an immune disorder in which the body becomes unable to fight infection. It can be fatal if left untreated.

*Alzheimer's disease: This is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects memory and intellectual abilities. There is no cure, and it can be fatal.

However, it is difficult to call any disease the "worst," as it depends on individual experience and circumstances. Availability of treatment, lifestyle, and access to health care also play an important role.

But I think getting rid of cancer is a complex and challenging process, in which various treatment methods are used. I know because my father's younger brother, who was a CA, died of blood cancer only three years after his marriage. He was a chain smoker, that probably caused cancer in his system.

Treatment is selected based on the type, stage, and condition of the cancer. Some of the major treatment options are as follows:

Surgery
Removal of the cancerous tumor or affected organs/tissues, if possible. This is often the first option in the early stages of cancer. The selection of treatment depends on the type, stage, and age of the cancer. Some of the major treatment methods are as follows:

Chemotherapy
This is the mainstream treatment for blood cancer. It uses anti-cancer drugs that destroy cancer cells.

Radiation therapy
Radiation treatment is sometimes used along with chemotherapy, especially in the case of lymphoma.

While there are many treatment options available today to get rid of blood cancer or leukaemia, many of these treatments were not available when my uncle was suffering from it, such as:

Stem cell transplant
This is an advanced treatment method in which healthy stem cells are transplanted to the patient so that they can produce new, healthy cells.

Targeted therapy
This is a new treatment method in which drugs are given that target specific biological targets and destroy cancer cells but cause less harm to healthy cells.

Immunotherapy
This method uses the body's immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells.

The treatment plan depends on the type, stage of cancer, and the person's general health condition. Often, more than one treatment method is combined to cure serious patients but regular monitoring and lifestyle changes are also important.

Do you think the world would be a much better place if that disease did not exist?

It is true that if this disease did not exist, the world would be a better place to live. But today, cancer is no longer a disease but it has taken the form of an epidemic.

Cancer occurs when cells present in the body change, which should not happen. However the uncontrolled growth and excessive growth of cells in any organ that spread from one organ to another cause this disease.

Would you believe that there are more than 250 types of cancer cells possible in the human body? Every cancer has a different set of symptoms. But in most cases, it is difficult to know on the basis of symptoms only whether these are due to cancer or some common disease.

We know cancer is curable from stage one to stage four, but it depends on the type of cancer. Lifestyle and diet play an important role in both avoiding cancer and getting cancer.

Today, the lifestyle of most people have become very lazy, therefore, physical activities are limited. And add to this the use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs, which have increased cancer cases during the last few decades.

Processed food, fast food, and red meat are also not good for health as they can cause cancer. For example, gallbladder cancer, stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer, and colon cancer are all usually triggered by our bad eating habits.

Your question is if the disease did not exist or if people did not suffer from diseases. That's impossible, but it's all related to lifestyle and environment.

For instance, most women do not have any bad habits like drug addiction, smoking, or consuming alcohol, yet they suffer from breast cancer. So I feel if we have to eradicate diseases totally, we shall have to avoid bad lifestyles, follow a healthy diet, exercise, and get health checkups done occasionally, still, there is no guarantee that this world will be entirely disease-free.

Finally, trust me if there were no diseases and death in this world or if all viruses disappeared, I have read somewhere "The world would be very different — and not necessarily for the better."
