Recipe of the Day, Week No. 17: ( Lotus roots curry)
Hello friends..
In fact, this great food, which has won the hearts of chefs not only in Sri Lanka, but around the world, is very tasty and of high quality.
In luxury hotels in countries like Japan, China, and Korea, you can get food prepared from lotus roots at a high price.
In fact, lotuses are also known as water lilies. These are formed in the soil at the bottom of the river.
The lotus plant often grows in the mud of shallow rivers, swamps, lagoons, and flooded fields.
This lotus root is brown in color and grows up to four feet long.
The teste of the lotus root has a mild sweet and starchy taste, but it varies according to the different ways it is prepared. It can be eaten raw or cooked and can be used in soups, stir-fries and salads or fried as a snack.
Now let's see how to prepare these in a delicious way.
- 200 g of lotus root
- 1 onion
- 2 green chillies
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Rampe, Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon of curry powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 1/2 cups of coconut milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of coriander seeds
Step 01
Take the lotus roots and scrape off the skin with a peeler or a knife. Then cut into fine slices and wash.
Step 02
I use pressure cooker for cooking today and you can make this in any utensil you like.
After that, I add cut lotus roots, onions, garlic, curry leaves, turmeric powder, curry powder, coriander seeds and salt to the pressure cooker.
Then add some coconut milk to it and cook for about 15 minutes until the pressure cooker whistles about 3 whistles.
