Everyone has traditional food, in my country we have so many local food then my own town have their own food and their special recipe 😋 let me introduce you to our local soup Atama it is not liked by many people because of its taste of bitterness but I came to appreciate our own recipe of cooking the leaf. Come with me as I take you to my kitchen locally 😊

Describe a traditional meal from your town.

Atama soup is one of those soup that is mostly eaten in my place it is one of the local soup that is really expensive in local restaurant because it can't just be prepared without enough ingredients and good recipe to taste. The leaf van be eaten as soup or use as medicine in some places any ways it's health benefits is numerous. Talking about flavour ah! it has a special flavour that is so strong that after eating you might need to brush your mouth before going out 😉 if not everyone you talk to will know the soup you eat.

This is how the Atama leaf look like, it's greenish with a touch of yellow. I got this from my backyard garden.

What are the main ingredients?
  • Atama leaf
  • Palm fruit
  • Stock fish
  • Periwinkle
  • Meat
  • Dry fish
  • Crayfish

This are the main ingredients but in my own recipe I added waterleaf and melon

Cutting the leaf to smaller pieces so it will be easy to pound and sieve, so after cutting, pound it to more smaller pieces depending on your choice. Then add cold water and wash it then sieve the water out. This washing method helps the bitterness to be wash and sieve out from the leaf, you can repeat this for about 4 or more times depending on how you want it to taste.

Palm fruit is used to cook this soup we call it **Atama abak** locally. The juice is squeeze out to cook the soup it serves as water and oil in the soup. So after boiling it, you pound it witg mortar and pestle as seen in th picture, after pounding you add hot water depending on your quantity that will squeeze out the juice, seive the water and add it to your cooking pot.

Finally our food is done

Do you consider that local gastronomy is well represented in your town? Because?

Yes very well, because local food which are very good to our body are widely eaten in my town, this are the food that doesn't have any effect to our body when eaten. Many people do promote this local food at their various restaurant and it's recipes are very nice, it is prepared in a local way that most people like it and patronise them too.

At occasions, parties and some homes prepares this too, if you visit Nigeria you will enjoy our gastronomy,I will help you explore it.

Thank you so much for reading my post I appreciate, I will like to invite @ubongudofot and @inspiracion to take part in this contest.

Hola apreciada amiga.
