Hello friends, I hope you are all well. I am also well because of the infinite mercy of God. Once again, I come to you to participate in this amazing topic of the sixth week of the Steemit Engagement Challenge. Through today's challenge, I will share with you about Most Popular Game of My Country.
👉 Describe what sports/game is popular most in your country.
People of our country like different sports like Cricket, Football, Badminton, Kabaddi etc. But if every person of Bangladesh is asked which sport is most popular to them, the answer will be Cricket. It is not just a game it is an emotion for the people of our country.
Not only boys like this game but girls also like this game. All the young and old people are engaged with this game. People do not stop playing this game even in the rainy season. Moreover, one of the reasons behind the popularity of this game is that it has given us an international identity.
👉 Is that game played in international competitions like the Olympics or other world championships?
Yes, this game is played in international competition like other world championships. Many international cricket competitions are organized among which I am mentioning below the names of some of the competitions:
ICC cricket world cup
ICC t20 world cup
ICC champion trophy
Asia cup
The Ashes

I am very proud that Bangladesh is one of the top ten cricket teams in the world. ICC Cricket World Cup organized by international cricket council is held every 4 years which is the biggest international competition of this game and Bangladesh cricket team has participated in it many times. Although our country has not yet become a World Cup champion, we are hopeful that we will be a World Cup winning team in the coming days.
👉 Do you consider that your players are world-class? If yes, name a few of them.
Yes I consider that the cricket team players of our country are world class. In these three categories of cricket (batting, bowling, all-rounder) our country has world-class players who have received many international awards. I am mentioning some of them below
Saqib-Al-Hasan (All rounder)
Tamin Iqbal (Top batsman)
Mashrafe bin Mortaza (All rounder)
Mushfiqur Rahim (Wicket keeper)
Mahmudullah Riad (Top batsman)
I am very proud that a player from our country has made a great record in the history of cricket. There are three formats of cricket which are ODI, Test, T20. Our country's player Shakib-Al-Hasan is at the number 1 all-rounder rank in these three formats. He has remained at his rank for several consecutive years which is a matter of great pride for us.

No, our country's favorite game and national game are different. The favorite game of our country is Cricket and the national sport is Kabadi. Because the game of kabadi came to our country before cricket. It is still very popular especially among the village people. Ever since people gradually started to know about cricket, it became the favorite sport of our country. And because we have an international identity through cricket, people have a different passion for it.

Every country has various games but the one in which people have passion/ interest for will definitely be the most popular. Here, I can see that; cricket has dominated all other games and became the most popular but Kabadi is till played at the national level because it has been in existence before others.

আমাদের দেশ ক্রিকেট ছাড়া কিছুই বুঝে না। আজকে একটা মাঠে গেছিলাম ক্রিকেট খেলতে। মাঠটা বেশ বড়ো ছিলো। সেই মাঠে কমপক্ষে ১০- ১২ টা দল ক্রিকেট খেলছিলো, ফুটবল নাই বললেই চলে৷ আসলে আপনি ঠিকই বলেছেন, এর পিছনে বড়ো কারন হলো, এই খেলাটি বাংলাদেশ আন্তর্জাতিক মানের খেলাতে পরিনত করেছে।

Yes, you said it right, Mushfiq-ur-Rahim Shakib ul Hasan etc are very good Bangladeshi cricket players. I have been a cricket fan and watcher for a long time but despite being the best player in the Bangladesh team, they have not won any major ICC Trophy. But hope is good and I wish your team best of luck in upcoming Asia Cup.
