Contest| International Labour Day | Importance of Labour
Hello guys,
It's a pleasure on my path to share with you all my entries in this week's contest which is titled "International Labour Day | Importance of Labour" which was organized by @deepak94. It is an interesting contest and I would love to drop my entry ASAP.
Before we go ahead I would like to invite @dave-hanny, @bonaventure24, and @kuzboy to join this contest in this community today and share their participation as well, I do hope to see and read your entries as well.
Here in this contest, I have the choice to talk about any two of the following subtopics so let's go straight and pick which we are going to be talking about.
Workers' Rights Advocacy:
Gender Equality in the Workplace:
Workplace Mental Health:
Remote Work and the Future of Work:
Gender Equality in the Workplace
Gender equality is a very strong point that I would love to discuss here in this contest. Over the years I noticed that in some parts of the world most especially in Nigeria, they don't consider women when it comes to work because they believe that women are supposed to be in the kitchen as that is where they are very good.
Because of this notion, people don't consider women much even when they get work to work in offices where men work. In offices here in Nigeria and I believe in some parts of the world they don't believe that a woman can head an organization hence women are always kept below the men and there is no equality among them.
In Nigeria for instance, no woman will dare to come out for the position of presidency because they believe that the position can't be handled by women but we have seen so many countries that are headed by women and they are doing very well.
So today, I'm writing in favor of women and my appeal is that they should be given a chance too because what a man can do a woman may do much better. So in workplaces, it should always be 50/50 i.e. the position and the work should be shared so that every party will have a say and the women should be part of the governing council of any organization if we want it to grow.
Every gender should be treated equally in our workplace because what we are looking to achieve is success and what we need to achieve is competency and not being a man or woman so any man who can do it should be given the chance. In the same way, any woman who can do it should also be given a chance.
Workers' Rights Advocacy
This is another subtopic I want to talk about. Workers' rights are another part that needs to be given full attention in the world of we are living and the reason is that I have seen on several occasions where the right is respected.
Here in Nigeria workers may finish working in a month since they are paid at the end of every month, but sometimes the payment is delayed and in some months they don't get to see their salary and there is absolutely nothing they can do about it.
The case of this salary payment has made workers in different sectors go on strike and this also has caused many problems between the government and its workers. So if the rights of the workers are respected then this conflict will not be there.
When they are promoted all the entitlement which is due to them should be given and not just answering a name that they have been promoted without their entitlement when things like this happen you will agree with me that the government is sitting on their right.
So the rights of the workers of every country should be respected fully and for no reason should they be held salaries no matter the situation.

That's a good point. Some people degrade women as sometimes they are stronger than men. Thank you for sharing.
