Steemit Engagement Challenge S6/W2 - What steps would you take to save the soil?

It's no longer news that the world we are living in is passing through a lot of disasters. On daily basis, we hear about earthquakes, floods, drought, erosion, deforestation, pollution, etc. Unlike some years back, our soil is no longer fertile to give ford food without the application of artificial chemicals.
Global warming has always been a topic of the day. Looking at all these happenings, you will believe me that our activities as humans are greatly contributing to the problems that the soil is facing. Most people cut down trees without planting anyone as a replacement, and at the end of the day, we suffer drought. We block our drainages with nylon, plastics, and other dirt, and it ends up polluting the environment and sometimes causing erosion.
Many people have forgotten that whatever affects the earth, affects us directly as humans and other living things that dwell on the earth. For us to live healthily, the earth must also be healthy. As such, it is our responsibility to make sure the earth is safe and free from disasters.
- Lost of lives and property
- Degradation of environment.
- Erosion has spoiled a lot of agricultural lands and crops, leaving farmers with little or nothing.
- Desertification and drought have caused famine in some parts of the world.
- spillages make farming activities impractical in some parts of the world.
There are many ways in which the soil can be taken care of. Below are a few of the ways.
- construction of water drainages, ditches, and soak-aways.
- contour farming and terracing
- creating forest reserves to avoid human interference.
- planting trees that will help hold the soil particles together.
- planting trees in rows to check the speed of wind (wind breaking).
- good method of disposing of feaces should be employed.
- oil spillage should be avoided.
- Refuse should be burned or buried.
- avoid disposing of refuse in water bodies.
- Deforestation or cutting down of trees should be discouraged.
I love the earth because it is the only dwelling place I have as a man. If the earth is in bad condition today, then life will be unbearable for me because my well-being is directly connected to my environment. As such, I play a role in maintaining it. Read below to know some of the activities I perform.

Planting trees in our environment is very vital to our lives and our environment because it helps prevent global warming. Trees also give us food, and they serve as a shelter for many lower animals. More to that, it gives us shade and good oxygen.

Another problem that the earth is facing is a bad water drainage system. Most of our drainages have been blocked either by sand or by the plastic rubbers and nylon we use daily. In my little way, I have been trying to make sure that the drainage in my area is clean. All I do is, whenever I notice that the drainage is blocked, I move whatever that block. From the picture, you can see a proof.

Another reason why the soil is suffering from disaster is due to human ignorance. We tend to pollute the environment because most people don't have a clear understanding of the effect of some of our actions on the environment.
In an attempt to create awareness about the consequences of our actions on the environment, I taught my students about environmental problems, and how they can be avoided. I encouraged them to plant a tree and to also keep their drainages clean.
Finally, I encourage each of us to make it a responsibility to take care of the earth (soil). I now invite @josepha, @yakspeace, and @ophinebabe to participate.

Many of us plant trees or grow crops to conserve soil. So much so that we use artificial chemical fertilizers and pesticides to get better yields in all crops. Recently I have discovered picnic insecticides in Bangladesh if weed control. It suppresses weeds but destroys soil fertility. In the same way, excessive use of crop fertilizers destroys soil fertility. We all should use organic fertilizers in the soil instead of these chemical fertilizers. Organic fertilizers undoubtedly increase soil fertility.

As you told deforestation is a major reason due to which soil erosion happens and it affects the soil a lot. And also humans are responsible for the pollution of the soil too.

Saving our soil from damaging is very great and makes our environment more safer. Indeed the strategy that you have Discussed about would go a long way in saving our soil.
