These tokens can help you build both your own and other people's Steem accounts, so let's see what are the best tokens/coins on the Steem Engine nowadays (2020 january) in my opinion.

Did you know that some of the Steem Engine tokens/coins are giving upvotes and/or paying Steem to their holders?
Did you know that by holding some of these tokens, you get give some of those tokens (not from your own holdings, but the distribution) by a comment command, and you earn curation rewards with them, similarly to your upvotes?

Yes, some of them works similarly to Steem Power.

You can also trade these tokens, of course, but I am not doing that with the majority of these tokens/coins. I am planning to hold them for the long term.

I am holding a few of these tokens for some months now, and they are working.

I do not have huge holdings in any of them, so I will probably not become a whale (nor the next "mister 2 million dollars"), but it is good to be able to give and get some help with these tokens/coins.

Let's see:

1 - Plankton Token (PLKN)

They are giving both upvotes and Steem payouts to their holders. This token is mainly intended for plankton/redfish users, but anyone can hold them. I am currently a minnow. If you are new to the Steem blockchain (or you have a small Steem account), then I would highly recommend this token.

2- Trendo Token (TRDO)

This token works like Steem Power. You can "trend" a post by writing a command in a comment.
You give some Trendo (TRDO) token (not from your own holdings, but similarly with Steem Power, with the distribution) to the author, and you also earn curation rewards in them.
The more you have, the more you are able to give (and receive in curation rewards).
The difference between this and the Steem Power is the fact that the payout window is 3 days in the case of the Trendo Token (TRDO), not 7 days, like in the case of the Steem Power.

3 - Palcoin (PAL)

This may sound weird, but I am not using this coin nowadays, but I used it in the past. I simply sold them for Steem, and powered it up. Maybe it was a mistake/stupid move. Maybe it was the right thing to do.
But I certainly mention this coin amongst the bests Steem Engine tokens/coins. You can read the reason below.
This coin is similar to the Trendo Token (TRDO), except that you do not give the coin to others by a comment command, but simply by upvoting, and you can also use the Palcoin (PAL) to buy Steem upvotes with it, and this coin is one of the most popular coins on the Steem Engine. This coin has one of the biggest user base on the Steem Engine. This is why I mention this amongst the best Steem Engine tokens/coins. This coin probably have other use cases too, but I currently do not know about it/them. By the way, before this coin, the Minnow Support Project had free upvote bots on Discord. Since they removed that, I rarely checked their Discord group. I would not like to be active on Discord, I would like to be active on the Steem blockchain. I think that we should build the Steem community on the Steem blockchain, and not on Discord. Nor anywhere else outside of the Steem blockchain.

4 - Qurator Token (Q)

This token pays some Steem for holding them, but are not giving upvotes, like the Plankton Token (PLKN) do.

5 - Dark Energy Crystals (DEC)

You can earn this by playing Steem Monsters/Splinterlands. You can earn some DEC for every battle you won.
You can trade (buy and sell) DEC on the Steem Engine. You can also use DEC in Steem Monsters/Splinterlands to buy in-game items, including Steem Monsters/Splinterlands cards. You can also get DEC by selling Steem Monsters/Splinterlands cards.

I think that these are the best 5 tokens/coins on the Steem Engine nowadays (2020 january).
