Contest - Object Of The Week #35 - A Cat Above The Rest

We used to have a lot of cats in our house. These cats were usually stray kittens which my wife picked up from somewhere. Abandoned or orphaned, the kittens would be about 2 to 3 weeks old and would be crying their hearts out, cold and hungry. My wife always took pity on them and just adopted them. After caring for them, when they were big enough, they were let out of the house and they lived outside in our garden. But there are some, over the years, that my wife would decide to stay inside the house. It really would depend on their personality and demeanor. The cats that were usually kept inside the house were the meek and quiet ones which my wife felt would not fare well outside with the rest.

One of these is Pickles. My wife found her outside our gate, meowing with all her might, scared and alone and hungry. Apparently her owner decided to get rid of her and dropped her right in front of our house. So she took her in and cared for her. She grew to be such an adorable cat that my wife decided to let her stay inside the house instead of outside.

Pickles is so playful and loves to climb atop our tall cabinets and spend the night there. She is very good at climbing but has a hard time going down. I have to help her down actually because she gets scared about jumping down from such a high place.

She's getting ready to sleep and is beginning to doze off. In case you are wondering what the green chain is all about, that's what we use to hang the curtain to separate one section of the bedroom from another. Sort of a divider. Both ends are hooked to two tall cabinets facing each other.

And she's asleep! Good night Pickles.
