I really liked writing about technology, I am enjoying it and in this publication I want to talk to you about the “Internet of Things” known as IoT.

Can you imagine waking up in the morning and finding your coffee ready and breakfast coming out of the roaster? This is more real than you can imagine.

You can have your computers interconnected to the internet at home, you can schedule the time your coffee will be ready, the time of the conferences, the time for washing clothes at home and all this can be controlled from a remote system. They will tell me that it is very similar to the topic of home automation that I discussed earlier but we will go into detail.

The difference of IoT with home automation is that the latter can work perfectly through a network or circuit that is not powered by the internet, and responds to command or analog programming. And in the case of the IoT, obviously it depends on the internet to function.

The Internet of Things (IoT) interconnects your equipment and electronic devices through the internet, so they can fulfill assignments or tasks that you can handle even when you are away from home

How would this work in my home or office?

It is simpler than it seems, the network has the IP address of each computer or device, just like a server does. This IP address allows access to the equipment and thus the instructions arrive remotely.

Can you imagine having a network integrated by the coffee maker, the washing machine, the refrigerator and the TV in each? So you can have everything ready at the required time and you would enjoy a lot of free time

We can also cite some slightly more complex experiences such as the so-called smart cities, which use the principle of IoT for the operation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic lights, tolls, access control, among other things. A case would be Madrid with its traffic lights that control the urban infrastructure of the city remotely in an intelligent way.

We could also cite the giant Google and the innovations in artificial intelligence currently being developed by Uber to improve the service and dispense with the typical taxi drivers.

The areas of development of the IoT

* Security: real-time control of security systems and access control.

* Health: an example would be the monitoring of Alzheimer's patients, remote monitoring of blood pressure indicators, blood sugar in patients who are outside the hospital premises. Assistance at home for people with reduced mobility.

* Intelligent control of cities: monitoring and control of the city's infrastructure in terms of roads and their control devices, potable water supplies through aqueducts, climate monitoring and hydrometeorological predictions, among other advances.

* Vehicles without driver.

* Smart homes monitored and controlled by internet in real time.

How do you see the application of these advances in your city?

This may represent the dream of many, especially when we talk about cities in the first world and with sufficient income that can be very well invested in the well-being of citizens.

I have seen the implementation of small trials in my city, for example, the use of intelligent traffic lights controlled by the internet, with its successes and failures, because there are two fundamental elements that we have not mentioned: continuity of electricity and internet services, without these, we would not be able to fully see any of the advantages that the IoT offers us.

In my case, my country as a whole at the moment is very far from taking advantage of the advances in IoT, although in other fields such as business, commercial and some households, this is no longer a novelty to become a great need which has already been underway for some time.

Would you like to enjoy the IoT at home?

this in a very interesting topic since some years ago I tried shodan (it's a search engine) that locates everything that is connected to the network from a refrigerator to a car, at first I didn't think it was dangerous but in an article of the "Onion Network" it was mentioned how it is possible for example to access a marker placed in someone's heart and make it fail if the person doesn't do what he wants are things that make you think that everything can be used for evil and that all progress brings with it dangers.

You are very right @trabajosdelsiglo, a vulnerable aspect of IoT systems is that because they are fed with the internet, they can also be hacked and this is a great danger

IoT are so cool and are a fair representation of how the future will be. Humans are going to simplify literally everything we do and give us time to focus on solving bigger issues affecting us.

Hello @belemo, that is precisely one of the advantages of IoT, solving some problems, but we must get the best out of it

Thanks for comment..!

Nice post on IoT.

I have some software product experience that was integrated with IoT devices and also have seen a few smart homes so I was able to relate. I found this post very interesting.

Thank you!

Hello @neerajkr03, thanks for comment it.

I think that in a short time this will be very common in our homes and places of employment, so we must integrate and walk with technology from now on.

If indeed everything that you mention in this publication is already happening, but you know what I would like more is just what you say at the beginning to wake up and have the coffee ready hehehe I think that would be great, clear also everything else, now I hope that in this country some day we can have that economic capacity to be able to afford the expenses that will be to have that technology in our home.

Hello @lanzjoseg friend, I also think that the most interesting thing is to have coffee and breakfast ready, prepared by these teams before waking up, hahaha

Regarding the second point that you comment, I believe that this possibility is closer than we imagine, at least in the municipality where I live, they are already working on home automation projects based on IoT, in aspects such as security, access control and supervision, so that in a few years in Venezuela integration will go beyond this.

See you soon

Although not everyone has a smart home currently but in the nearest future, IoT would be a thing for everyone thereby making automation and self learning an easy thing at homes and in our community.

Hello @ajewa, It is true what you say, perhaps at the moment it is unthinkable to have a house with IoT, but in the near future it will be available to everyone

Hello @tocho2 the advances in the technological field are increasingly surprising and lead us to think about a future close to the super-sonic where through the technological processes and especially the network we can control our devices. Thank you for such valuable information.

Hello @madridbg, We do not stop being surprised with an advance when we already have another discovery. I am passionate about this topic and it is my desire to at least make it known at the university where I work and share it on steemit as well.

Thanks for your comment

Knowledge is power, @tocho2as long as we have the ability to socialize or share it, is one of the benefits provided by block chains.

It is true, friend..!

IOT and home automation is a topic that excites me greatly, the fact that things can come to us with convenience without stress is extremely interesting and something we need to always be grateful to technology about.

Hello @ben-edom, we are very close to having full automation in our homes, the important thing is to know how to manage technology and get the best out of it
