Is it essential to know about blockchain and crypto-currencies to make life on this platform?

in Project HOPE4 years ago

This is a question that I was asked recently, and to be honest, I have been thinking about it and I have several opinions about it. The simple and basic answer to that question would be NO, it's not necessary. It is enough in principle that you learn how to edit the posts, and the basic things (comment, vote, reblog). To start making life here, however...

I start from the following principle: If you know the system well, you can put it to work for you, and get better performance.

You don't think so? To justify it, I'm going to bring in some examples.

If someone starts publishing just in the interest of making money through his writing, he might do very well. Let's say that in the course of 3 months he has managed to earn about 5 thousand SteemPower (he has done extremely well), but he doesn't know the benefits of the curatorship, he is wasting that possibility of getting an extra benefit by voting for other publications manually. Or if he doesn't know what a TRAIL is and how to follow it, he would be losing the chance to earn some extra SteemPower even by doing nothing, just following a trail.

There are some projects that by delegating your voting power you generate an additional benefit. Project.Hope is a good example of this, where you can obtain a daily or weekly benefit if you delegate an amount of your voting power. Something that if you don't know you couldn't take advantage of.

There are also options to automate your voting for specific users, which is a way to put your account to work almost 24 hours a day without having to constantly monitor it. And if you don't know this, you might miss the opportunity.

You don't have to be a scholar of the Blockchain and Cryptomonkey theme to write and publish, of course, but you do need to have more notion about the whole context in order to get the maximum benefit.

Knowing about token burning and its importance in the price of a Cryptocurrency can allow you at some point to place the profits you have made from your publications in this burning process and generate some additional profit, or you can probably enter the market area and realize that there are those who make good profits trading from the domestic market... for example.

It is something necessary to clarify to the people who want to enter to make life in this social network based on a Blockchain and that generates Benefits in Crypto Currencies, that even without knowing what these words mean and everything behind them, they can publish from their blogs, but the best thing is that little by little they go deeper, and go beyond what they know, the knowledge does not weigh, and always gives us better options.

I just wanted to share these personal opinions, around this topic with those who read me.

I'd like to know what you think about it.

I'll be reading them in the comments.

Hi! I'm a bot, and this answer was posted automatically. Check this post out for more information.

Nice analysis, definitely we are bound to miss out on opportunities in the areas we lack knowledge.

I appreciate the quick analysis, it will help a lot of people.

Thank you very much for commenting @oluwatobiloba
Yes, it is necessary to know, in order to be able to take advantage of the maximum potential of each thing.

The truth is when we do not understand the entire package of an earning system, we definitely loose out on some good deals.

Absolutely, we agree on that. And you don't necessarily have to be a specialist. But knowing helps you move forward.

Yes, a few days ago we were talking about it, and my answer was also NO, to publish and comment, that is, to do the basics we don't need to know much, I started like that, but looking at it from that point of view I think that yes, it would be convenient to know a little more, so we wouldn't miss the opportunity to earn a little more.

It's logical, but you don't learn it overnight. Knowledge is acquired little by little. Depending on what is presented, although of course, it is not superfluous to take the time to understand it.

Friend, you definitely gave a very good explanation to that question that you were asked, and I supported it since its basic way of handling the concept would be understood by any new user.

Thanks for this post, it deserves a resteem

Thanks friend @lanzjoseg
I wanted to gradually and easily explain many aspects of the platform. I have realized that for those who are entering new is not easy to understand the issue, so I think it deserves to be clarified little by little many aspects.
Thank you for your support.

Dear @josevas217

Interesting choice of topic. One of those posts, which surely are worth checking out and reading through.

The simple and basic answer to that question would be NO, it's not necessary.

To some degree I agree with you. However I think that person without any knowledge about crypto simply will do very poorly on Steem blockchain. Surely can use it, but will get most likely nowhere.

That's just simple as that. Perhaps in the future people won't need to understand much about crypto. Just like we do not need to understanding html any more to create website. But we're not there yet.

Upvote on the way :)
Yours, Piotr

It's a process, I think this technology is still in its infancy, and little by little more people will come in.
They're going to inadvertently turn on.
That time will come, surely, but as you say, we are not yet at that point.

Thank you for support @crypto.piotr

Hello dear @josevas217, how is everything?

Thanks friend, we should stop to think about these things, but if we realize, when we make a constant life on this platform, undoubtedly and almost without realizing it, we will gradually learn everything related to cryptocurrencies, due to the very nature of this platform, read - comment - vote, in this process we will find a number of publications referring to blockchain, which will educate us on these issues.

Well it's my opinion.

Blessings!

It's a valid opinion friend @fucho80
No doubt about it.
I started from scratch on this... and now I've learned some things, even by accident, I've read articles that make me understand other things, and in the end, the knowledge adds up.

This post has been rewarded by the Steem Community Curation Project. #communitycuration06.

Thank you @steemcurator06 for support

Indeed, either strategy can serve a user well depending on exactly what they wish to achieve from their time on the blockchain. Although I think you uncover the real truth of how we should approach our time in the community when you say, dig a little deeper, gain a little more understanding of how exactly a blockchain economy functions and the many small things we can do to improve our interactions and results.

I myself am not too technically minded and have to chosen to learn one small byte bite at a time. Increasing my knowledge of blockchains and cryptocurrency one incremental step at a time.

I believe for those whose understanding of such things was zero not too long ago, their understanding will be greatly enhanced if they take a steady approach focussed on one step at a time rather than total immersion which would result in my becoming lost and confused incredibly fast.

As the well know saying goes...

Even a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step...

I would not be surprised if those favouring this approach find themselves with a vast wealth of knowledge a few months down the line, learning is like that at first it seems a struggle dealing with new concepts and ideas, then it begins to feel more natural and suddenly we have a greater understanding than most of the population who made no attempt to understand any form of specialist knowledge.

For those who are new, my advice is always the same, study great engagement! This is akin to laying incredibly strong foundations before you begin to build a house. It will help you make new connections, friends and increase your knowldge in the process. Once we understand that aspect the simple aspect of negotiating the platform and immersing ourselves in the community takes care of most of our learning as we pick up small tips, tricks and hints along the way.

Great post exploring an idea many of us have pondered many times along the journey here.

Take great care my friend, keep on smiling 🙂

Hello @stevenwood
How nice to see a comment from you in my publication and even more nice with such a comment, full of many details. Thank you for sharing it with me and with those who would like to read it.
Life is a clear example that we must acquire knowledge little by little. First a baby has two teeth, then he learns to hold some things in his hand, then he can sit down, ready, and he can start eating other things.
And so we go... step by step.
I think it becomes less complicated to acquire knowledge that way. I totally agree.
Thank you very much for your comment.
Stay protected, of course not. You can't forget to smile.
