INTRODUCTION

line2.png

It got to my attention that user @omo-ope and @henry-9ja have been accused of spinning/rephrasing someone elses publications. It's important to note, that both of those users have been part of our project hope community and I shared my trust towards them. Trust which has been kind of ... abused.

DIFFICULT DECISION

line2.png

I spoke to a few guys from PH and have discussed this issue with them. I feel that it is my responsibility to ensure that situations like these cannot take place in our community. I'm not a police officer, who is going to monitor all of you closely. My job is to support your efforts and help you all grow bigger on this platform. Weather you're more active on steem, or new to hive - I'm here to support you. And I trust you all - until this trust is abused and forever lost.

For all those reasons, both those users had their access to our community telegram channel removed and all their future publications posted within the Project Hope community will be ignored by me. I will not downvote/flag any of it, but I will not support it either. I strongly believe it's a fair decision.

FINAL WORD

line2.png

I cannot afford to teach people ethics and how not to behave. I also cannot be playing the role of a police officer here either. I don't want to do that. And I hope this unfortunate event will not repeat itself again. Let's respect ourselfs and the work of others.

It's time for our paths to separate and I would expect everyones understanding. At the end of the day I'm the face of this project, and doing something which looks like a "fraud" affects my reputation. Learning from user with 1mln SP, that I'm supporting plagiarism is not the way I would like to start the day.

Some of you may disagree with my decision and may believe that everyone deserve a second chance, and maybe perhaps some people do. However, I'm not planning to punish those users - I'm simply not going to support them any more. I wish them all the best, our short "adventure" is now over.

Yours, @crypto.Piotr

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms such as Deep Learning have become integral parts of our daily lives: they enable digital speech assistants or translation services, improve medical diagnostics and are an indispensable part of future technologies such as autonomous driving. Based on an ever increasing amount of data and powerful novel computer architectures, learning algorithms appear to reach human capabilities, sometimes even excelling beyond. The issue: so far it often remains unknown to users, how exactly AI systems reach their conclusions. Therefore it may often remain unclear, whether the AI's decision making behavior is truly 'intelligent' or whether the procedures are just averagely successful.Artificial Intelligence (AI) and computer studying algorithms comparable to Deep studying have grow to be vital ingredients of our day-to-day lives: they enable digital speech assistants or translation offerings, reinforce clinical diagnostics and are an fundamental a part of future technologies such as autonomous using. Analyzing a little we can see that @omo-ope is an account created in April 2018. This user made his first publication in 2018 and it was a total plagiarism. All the text in this post was a copy / paste.
Then, all of his subsequent posts were on project hope starting in March 2020 where he managed to accumulate quite a few rewards despite his short stay in our beloved community.
It has only made 14 comments since its inception.

All this indicates that @homo-ope is a spam account used to try to obtain rewards through plagiarism.

Recommendations:

  • Before we start supporting the work of any new content creator subscribers, we should review their story on steemit.
  • Try to interact with this user in order to verify that it is legitimate.
  • Start supporting it with small upvotes and then, once your commitment is verified, increase the power of the upvote.
  • If any indicator of plagiarism or spam is detected, include these users in a "Blacklist."

Finally, I have a proposal for @crypto.piotr and about which I would like to know the opinion of our subscribers:

For some time I have been handling the idea of implementing a "White List" for subscribers/content creators in our community.

  • Members who become part of our White List will be beneficiaries of the highest levels of curatorship. For this they must meet some basic requirements of commitment, level of activity and behavior.
  • Not belonging to the White List does not exclude subscribers from receiving upvotes.
  • The whitelist membership can be revoked at any time if the user does not comply with the rules.

What do you think?

 3 years ago (edited)

Wow. What a deap analysis @juanmolina

I appreciate your comment and thanks for understanding and support to my decision

For some time I have been handling the idea of implementing a "White List" for subscribers/content creators in our community.

The truth is that I put enough effort to talk to every single person who is starting to post within our community. I'm trying to learn a bit about each user, share our goals and informations about our project economy.

So each user is kind of being "screened" by me and I support with upvotes only those, who gave me impression that they share similar values and interests. Obviously some mistakes do happen. However I'm not really into building public whitelists or blacklists. At least not in traditional sense of it.

Like I said - my goal is to learn about each user who is posting within PH and to decide which users I want to support in the future. I just need to be more careful

Hope I'm making sense,
Piotr

I understand you dear friend. I respect and accept your decision.

That is an important point what you bring as a proposal @juanmolina
A white list in some ways can help counter these abuses, as well as allowing for better control. Your review of this user's blog is important.

Thanks, i appreciated it.

I think the ideas suggested in this comment are good ideas.

Thanks, time will tell.

I support this

Thanks.

Excellent set of suggestions. I think all communities should adopt something similar. @informationwar community has done a lot of things right IMHO.

Thanks, i´ll check it.

sad to know this, could have been given a second chance if they were writing on a technical subject that they did not understand and limited language skills may be prevented them from better taking care of plagiarism. However, such behavior is detrimental to your project and I can understand the decision you took. Bad behavior impact you, the project and many people you support.

@crypto.piotr is very difficult to make this decision on the grounds "@omo-ope and @henry-9ja have long joined the PH community" it can even be said to be an old member.
On one hand it's good, to safeguard the future of a community that has hundreds of members rather than protecting the two people mentined by @crypto.piotr.

Dear @teach-me
Actually, both of those users were kind of very fresh members. Same as you - they just joined several weeks ago. It was just my very first time that I actually bothered to check some random publications posted within PH seeking plagiarism. And this discovery wasn't pleasant.

Thx for your comment
Cheers, Piotr

This is definitely painful I believe no one should have to spin other people's work to earn from it, I started from the scratch and built reputation myself. These people should have to learn too that it's better to start little than to cheat with contents. What a pity really. I support your decisions

Thanks for your supportive comment

Difficult but necessary decision!

It is a wise decision, my dear friend.

Thanks for your supportive comment

I believe is a complete waste of time to act this way!

I think whoever is here on this platform is well aware that plagiarism is not accepted at all but despite it such posting is a very bad act which should not be tolerated. People should use their own words and thoughts and this is what helps to earn reputation.

Some of you may disagree with my decision and may believe that everyone deserves a second chance, and maybe perhaps some people do. However, I'm not planning to punish those users

I agree with your decision and you have taken the right decision. I also hope that both users understand the purpose and don't try to do something which is not right in the future.

Thanks

This is really a difficult decision to make. We will all be guided not to do such thing

It got to my attention that user @omo-ope and @henry-9ja have been accused of spinning/rephrasing someone elses publications.

This is really so bad and this will actually be the first time I'm hearing such a bad practice engaged by our community members. Or is it that they are new to Steemit or what? This is just too bad and not encouraging because our community wasn't built for this.

My job is to support your efforts and help you all grow bigger on this platform. Weather you're more active on steem, or new to hive - I'm here to support you. And I trust you all - until this trust is abused and forever lost

Almost every community members of project hope are much aware of your good intentions and support. I actually feel very bad about such occurrence happening in this great community.

And I hope this unfortunate event will not repeat itself again. Let's respect ourselfs and the work of others.

I'm quite sure this will never happen again and I will suggest we pin a warning against plagiarism on the community Steemit group and the telegram group to avoid users coming up with unrealistic excuses after being caught.

everyone deserve a second chance, and maybe perhaps some people do.

I actually think they deserve this too though who knows if they are newbies on Steemit who have no knowledge about plagiarism but I really know how you are feeling right now and I can't question your decision or judgment but I can assure you that such a thing will never repeat itself.

Thanks for sharing this great post with love from @hardaeborla and I hope you have a great weekend ahead ❤️💕❤️💕❤️

i definetly will have to keep in mind, that checking random publications within PH for plagiarism is a must. I feel that i've been to naive so far, assuming that this wouldn't happen within our community.

Enjoy your weekend buddy

Thanks for the lovely reply

this was a good decision, it was also a good decision not to affect their reputation, perhaps with this preventive measure it will make them take the right path again before publishing.

Not giving them negative votes indicates that we are not against the community, but position and reputation along with honesty are very important.

I hope this is important to them, and thank @project.hope for the support he gave them, and that they don't just turn against @project.hope.

It is important to mention that this incredible community of @project.hope does not retaliate against anyone and even less against the community, which is the most important thing.

@edgarare1

Thanks for your supportive comment

Indeed, to retaliate wouldn't be wise thing to do. It would only create more distrust and drama. Which I don't need :)

It is best to leave a positive comment on mispublications, indicating the rules of the community. If everything is respected, there will be no mistakes in the future.

Have a great time...

It is a point of much reflection that our friend and leader @cripto.piotr presents to us, it is important that all of us who integrate this community do not abuse the opportunity that is given to us, on the contrary let's take this opportunity to do a good work to express our best ideas.

An advice for the new users who want to integrate this community and to do publications that do not take implicit the plagiarism:

"If you are going to make a publication letting yourself be guided by some article of the web, you can read it and write an analysis and your position of those who understood, preferably leaning for contents that are attached to your profession (this helps not to commit plagiarism). Let's take advantage of the opportunity we are given to grow and not to betray the trust we are given".

Solid advice. One that need to be followed.

Agree with other comments. This is a difficult decision but you did the right thing. This community has to hold up basic ethics otherwise it is not living by its name. We should support those who contribute positively to the community.

I am with you on this @crypto.piotr

Hi everyone and @crypto.piotr

It is very serious what is happening, in some way it can get to splash all of us.
The human always in his eagerness to harm the other without realizing the damage that they do to themselves.

Juan's comment is a very good idea, I think that we ourselves must be guarantors of those who have become part of our project.

I will be pending some cases, which I also have doubts about the origin and the way they write their publications.

Will you send me a private DM?

Greetings everyone, I am still really surprised by these things, but you cannot close your eyes to reality.
A "difficult but necessary" decision @ crypto.piotr
On the other hand, I think the recommendations of @juanmolina are very correct and I support his suggestion of the "White List"

Thanks for your supportive comment

ps. did you ever consider powering up little bit? Arent you struggling with low RC (resource credit) limits while posting and engaging with others?

I think it is a good decision @crypto.piotr, we are supposed to take into account the rules when joining a community, we are not children, and we have to be clear that every action has a consequence. Besides, we disrespect those of us who do make original content!

ps. did you ever consider powering up little bit? Arent you struggling with low RC (resource credit) limits while posting and engaging with others?

This is a good step that will help curtail plagiarism. Well done.

I think this will guide us all to doing the proper thing and know what that the community will not support it.

lol - having read originals and what you call spins, I find myself in the odd situation where I have to acknowldge that the spins are more understandable - and their English is superior.

Do they get any points for improving on the original? Maybe if they had been honest and said they were trying to help make the originals more comprehensible?

hi @arthur.grafo4

points for improving on the original? :)) no such a thing :)

Have a great weekend
Piotr

No, I said that if they had been honest and had said they were trying to make the post more understandable (thus acknowledging the original poster), it would be easier to forgive the plagiarism. However, they pretended it is their own work, which of course is wrong.

My friend, I have been watching you struggle to build up PH and I hope it keeps growing. Are you still writing?

I tend to prefer helping directly by voting and even, in a few cases, transferring an amount to the account of someone suffering (at least that way nobody can flag my gift). However, today I am feeling a bit more cynical about helping anyone.

I have been trying to start my own project and found I am not able to create my own website, even by using WordPress, so I thought, instead of asking for help, I will offer most of what I have on Steemit in payment for what I am told is a few hours work. I had decided that if a number of people want to do it, I will give preference to anyone from Venezuela, so that I also have the pleasure of knowing I helped feed a family - plus, once the project takes off, I would give them preference as to a part-time job, earning a small salary (in US$) for a few hours work per month.

I was flooded by people wanting the job and the Steemit $700 I offered?

Nope. Not one!

I will find someone, but it also means I will not be too keen (or as gullible ) about helping people who do not try to help themselves. Surely there are many in Venezuela who know how to create a WordPress site? yet, not one wants the job? (even at 16c per steem, it still comes to US$112 - that is too little for a job that takes hours or at most a day to complete?)

I think even you started off this project because you saw the guys were struggling to help themselves and offer something for what they get?

I will get my project started and then PH is on the list for a commission on the earnings (in US$). I hope I will be able to grow the project and make substantial contributions. Until then, all I can offer are my best wishes to all of you.

Among my people, it is said that trust is something that is not given away, it is built over time and can be destroyed with a single action, I think that this plagiarism cso is an example of how trust and support are lost for stealing content created by other people without giving them any credit for their creations.

I hope you're doing fine @pedrobrito2004 ?

Thanks for the preoccupation, in general I'm fine, although with electrical failures and internet service failures, it is only now that I have both and I'm taking the opportunity to review a lot of things that I have pending.

It's really worrying when you're dissapearing for such a long periods of time @pedrobrito2004

This is really bad. It is a basic premise of the platform, NOT PLAGIO, MUST NOT BE ALLOWED
It is unfortunate, because we all do our best to bring quality and original content. It is the reason for being on this platform and community. Very good decision, difficult possibly, yes, I do not doubt it, knowing of your will to help, but abused and every action has its consequence. You have the right and the reasons to do so @crypto.piotr

I appreciate your comment and thanks for understanding and support to my decision

Guys... I urge you all to check accounts... Every time, there is someone new coming to "be included" in a project.

Why is that required? Why not?

I mean... a project is something that should be "controlled" right? otherwise, the objective is just as good as the people getting in... And that's not all about the intentions of projects.

I mean... this is a simple example of someone that would need to make a bit of "homework" to prove themselves they are eligible to make a post under a community and not get immediately reported... simply look at that account posts...
image.png

For me, an account that is continuously active behind the scenes but does not do any posts or comments... there is already something fishy about it. Actually this account in particular never did a comment until a few months ago when started posting on @project.hope. If you look at the replies, then it's even more obvious that the account was initially created and put to sleep... because later they use these accounts to execute "old fashioned" high reputation impersonations.

Please look at an account... if you don't know about that account.

That alone brings value to #HIVE (yeah... about just leave them here on #STEEM).

To end the conversation...

These accounts are also in #HIVE and will be added to @steemcleaners if not already there.

a difficult decision but you have my support in this. Plagiarism should not be encouraged, much less allowed to go unnoticed. They are unscrupulous people who sadly seek to hang on to success of others

Greetings dear @crypto.piotr, the truth is I have never heard or read these users, I am practicing manual healing for a while now and have some tools that detect possible plagiarism, however, I support your decision, to retaliate with those who have these plagiarism practices is not the right answer, is the wisest thing you did simply do not receive more support and leave them a message of awareness, it is not easy to be a content creator, express your ideas and knowledge, many are here for the reward and I think everyone, but it is not only about making a profit but to convey your ideas, your knowledge and support everyone we can.

Those who do not find it easy to write, before committing plagiarism is better to ask the project, ask for help on writing and thus guide and support them, this a message for these two users too, to rectify and become from now on real content creators.

This is my opinion and according to your decision friend @crypto.piotr, in total support for @project.hope

It's sad to see that these two users who benefit from all the upvote frontiers of PH are plagiarists. You've made a noble decision here. One lesson for us here, as @juanmolina had implied in his reply, is that PH should learn to value the old users more, users whose works have undergone the integrity test.

All the best to the two ostracized members.

Yeah..This is very difficult to get but must need to stop plagiarism. I cannot accept what they did already. But I completely support with your decision.

Pretty common @crypto.piotr . You have done the right thing by opting not to support these guys. It is a unsaid rule that plagmarism is a crime actually and it can be easily detected thesedays and those who do those practices can be banned from the platform and have the accounts removed, so I read in other platforms.

I do understand and appreciate that you would upvote and support only quality posts of those who support your community to grow,, that's how it should be.

By rejecting these two, your only doing them a good thing, so they are discouraged to do this ever again. I understand they were greedy, but everyone needs to earn upvotes and be in the flow, there is no shortcuts.

In the long run, you feel good when you earned something, if not cryptos, someother experience, some other learning, some other growth and you can become a better content creator by working on it.

Good job. It would be good if you disable them from posting in project.hope community...maintain social distancing with these guys...hee..hee..hee...although they are welcome to start over again in a clean state.

I'm really sorry about these situations. I support your decision and for me, it's also the best solution.

Fighting abuse in a community should be the duty of everyone, especially for a community that wishes to build a solid reputation and integrity to the masses. It is important that we all watch each other's back lest the community be made mean.

However on the current issue detected. @Crypto.Piotr should see a way to either give a caution to the affected user which could be muted for a while. I hope the said user desists from such. Just my suggestion.
