Spice Market of Bangladesh || My Market Friday!
Spice - an integral part of Bangali cuisine. We use so many different types of spices every single day from cooking to making natural medicine and for so many other reasons. That's why spice always takes place in our grocery shopping list too.
Yesterday, I visited a local place to buy some spice. This spice market is not that huge as different other retail markets but there are several shops full of different ingredients and spices which we need to cook or for other purposes.
This place is full of color. And you will get a beautiful fragrance while passing the market. Or maybe the scent seems good to me because spice is too attached with us from our childhood!
To be honest, there are so many different types of spices, I don't even know many of their name and usage. So, don't wonder if you find clueless about this.
You will find different other cooking ingredients like rice, soybean, sauce in this type of shop. Also, they keep a different variety for the same ingredients. Like you will find two to three types of cardamon with different price ranges.
This is how the place looks like. You can see it's full of so different items. And the best thing about this type of market is you can buy spices at a very reasonable price compared to different continental shops.
I bought some cardamom and cinnamon. They usually pack it in a plastic bag like this.
You will find these types of markets or at least shops around Bangladesh. It's a good place to explore the world of spice!

You always have such wonderful posts about Bangladesh. It is always a joy to explore the Markets with you and listen to you as you explain how they work. I love spice shops and I think they smell heavenly as I walk by them and even better when I walk into them.
This was a wonderful shop and to be honest with you, most are tightly packed so they get more spice per square inch in them I think all spice markets are like that! :) I love the open barrels and bins so you can select your own, or prepackaged if you are in a rush.
