Weekendy things

in OCD5 years ago

Oh glorious Friday, you are here again...And there is much rejoicing.

As everyone knows, Friday isn't a day where any work gets done at the office and I proudly upheld that premise today...Still doing so actually. It's around 2pm and to I've done next to nothing all day. (Just kidding, I turned on my computer, have consumed a couple of coffees, and generally chit-chatted about the weekend. Productive!

In all honesty though, work is going well and I'm closing in on my annual (fiscal year) budget with about 8% of it left to write. [G-dog grins broadly]. I've got until June 30th to write that 8% although, of course, need to exceed it, and it's all looking pretty sweet at the moment. They say hard work pays off...It does.

So, weekendy things.

I have my sister here for the weekend ; She arrives sometime today and is leaving Sunday night. My little sister lives in Sydney and is here for a flying trip to visit my dad at the nursing home. I think it's a timely visit as my dad isn't going so well. Not only does he have dementia and does not know who we are but yesterday I found out some other disturbing news that doesn't bode well from a health perspective. Anyway, we'll head over there and spend some time with him on Sunday which will good for my sister.

Speaking of whom...She's decided to do some sort of celebration thing for my impending 50th birthday which is in several days. I'm annoyed. It's not like I don't like birthdays or anything...I just don't like being the centre of attention and therefore celebrating my birthday, is not something I enjoy. She has insisted though, in her typical stubborn fashion, so my last hope to avoid that horrific event is to have Faith, my all-knowing wife, attempt to dissuade my recalcitrant sister - To reign her in somehow. I'll let you know how that goes.

Saturday morning I'll be hanging out with a friend for coffee before heading to the gun range to help some of the team set up for a big event coming up in just under a month. We will host a butt-load of shooters from around the state so have to devise and set up shooting stages and work on logistical matters like feeding everyone and car parking. I'm lucky that I don't have to do much thinking...I'm just the [unpaid] labour. It'll be cool though, we all work together well and have a decent time doing these sorts of things.

Other than those few things the weekend is unplanned and we'll just do whatever comes a long which suits us fine.

We need to do some trip planning for July when we head to Scandinavia so will probably have a look at that although considering the virus thing going about we may be inhibited from a travel perspective if things get much worse. We'll see - For now we are pushing ahead with our plans and with $4,500 of airfares booked we have little choice in the matter.

I guess we'll watch some Netflix and probably walk a bit too...The usual weekendy things.

What have y'all got planned for the weekend? Something special, an unplanned freestyle weekend or a planned and scheduled one? Comment below if you like, or not. Either way, I hope you have a good one, and deploy with passion and conviction...One never knows when it'll all come crashing down around our ears, life I mean, so we might as well get after it with passion right?

I'll keep my fingers crossed that Faith wins the battle with your sister. It sounds like you have a full weekend planned, as usual! I don't have weekends and therefore have no plans, but that's not unusual either. I can't wait to see pictures from your upcoming trip!

Yeah, me too...Birthday celebration, for my birthday, is my worst nightmare. I'd rather have bamboo shoved up my fingernails. We'll see, I'm hoping someone puts the birthday shenanigans on the back burner.

I love weekends. The two days are always full of possibilities. 🙂

I am also not fond of being the center of attention, but the bamboo seems a little extreme. I had a big party when I turned 40 and it was a lot of fun, but it was more about everyone being together than about me, which was perfect. If you add a whole lot of people to the event, the magnifying glass gets a little diluted. Food for thought.

Yeah, I get it...But still hope I can avoid the scenario...Now, where's that bamboo.

Whoa......!!!! I was reading and seen You saying this....... "Yeah, me too...Birthday celebration, for my birthday, is my worst nightmare. I'd rather have bamboo shoved up my........"

The line ended there....... Yep, had to go on to the next line to read "Fingernails"

So glad You said Fingernails......!!! The Mental image is what I am talkin' bout....LMAO

I haven't got any bamboo, so will have to improvise.

Freestylin' bro? Me likey, me likey a lot. The best weekends have come from having nothing planned. Just do it with passion and that's all you can ask of yourself. :)

My weekend is going to be me laying around and rotting, mostly because I have a UTI and have been pissing blood the past 2 days and feeling like a lego brick is inside of my dick whenever I have to take a piss.

So, I guess I'll be going after the passion of my wiener feeling like it's been possessed by the Black Plague this weekend, babbbyyyy.

Sounds like a legit weekend...Pissing Lego blocks. (Not)

Hope the UTI gets better and your cock doesn't fall off.

Hang tough bro.

I mean, a positive is that the one medicine the doctor gave me tonight has turned my urine bright orange. So, now I look like I've been drinking nothing but a mixture of tang and oompa loompa cum. Good stuff.

A good cocktail you got there...I heard they've started serving that at the local pub.

P.s. I used to love Tang. Lol.

The weekends are always something worth celebrating. I wonder if anyone ever planned to have a holiday for just those two days...

Looking forward to seeing your adventures soon, as always. Also, that looks like some nice coffee. The best coffee is always Italian, but I've heard that you Aussies make great baristas :-)

Coffee is a national pastime here...It's out of control! We have some wicked baristas too, you're right. I can't recall when coffee took over Australia but I'm happy about it. It's become somewhat of an art here. Although I have to say, the coffee in Italia was something special too.

Have a great weekend. 😊

I hope the visit with your dad goes as well as it can.

For the weekend, my wife isn't feeling that great so we have scrubbed our plans to go to a Geocaching event in another town. We are just going to go to the local farmers market then I plan to work on a few build projects.

Have a good one.

Farmers market and building projects sound like a pretty legit weekend. Have a good one. ✅

Sounds like a productive Friday XD

I did have plans that revolved around my project with some flexibility for any other social shenanigan that might crop up. Then I ended up with a couple of extra children and then a queen-sized bed (both teenagers needed new beds due to outgrowing their single beds) so tomorrow will be spent disassembling a loft bed, cleaning the room it was in and assembling the queen sized bed in there. And will probably have to go to the shops to get sheets and stuff for it yay. I hate shopping XD And I'm also temporarily losing a child tomorrow. And people told me things got easier when the kids got older XD

Beds. Beds? They shouldn't need beds...They should be out working!

Lol.

Just kidding...(kinda)

I hope you have a good weekend of bed assembling and sheet shopping.

Probably easy and hard for them to get jobs at the moment, hard because two of them are restricted in what they can do (though I have signed a form for middle child so she can do more than paper routes and babysitting now) but also easier because it seems some places are more interested in hiring under-17s so they don't have to pay them minimum wage x_x

Yeah, it's probably harder also as many of the traditional employers of under-age people are automating and so don't need the same number of casuals. Macca's, supermarket chains etc.

Back in the good old days they would have been in the salt mines at 9 years old, the copper or coal mines. Lol...

Hope you're well and having a good weekend. My fingernail bamboo event is about to begin. I'm not pleased.

There wasn't much good about those days XD

The weekend is good, got an extra day of it today ^_^

Fingernail bamboo event? Wait what did I miss and why did my mind go straight to torture methods with zero hesitation or deviation? O_O

Hey rockstar...Torture?

My sister insisting she celebrate my impending 50th with me yesterday as she lives in Sydney and won't be here in Adelaide on the day. Celebrating my birthday is torture for me. Hate it.

Is that the bamboo fingernails thing you were talking about? XD Not quite the same but my sister likes to spend time with me by dragging me shopping (which she loves but I hate). Just let them do the little things that make them happy, it's not like it's going to detrimentally affect the rest of our lives XD

Happy impending half century XP

Shopping is like bamboo under the fingernails too. Hate it. :)

Howdy sir galenkp! I agree, live everyday as though it could be your last because of course, it could be! Sorry things are not going well for your dad. That sucks. But it's great to be able to have your sister for a visit.

Life is there to be lived I guess right? Might as well do it the best as one can. :)
