Achievement 2 @vincentibe Task: Basic Security on Steem

The security of any element is vital to its sustainability. Little wonder why steemit develops high tech codes with long and complex characters for its members as keys. These long keys are designed to be used for different purposes.

The keys are as follows:

MASTER PASSWORD

This is a very important key. Just as its name implys, this is a password that is used to generate or retrieve every other password including Owner's Key. Care should be taken to safeguard this key as a compromise of it could lead to a loss of account and possible stealing of wallet. When the account is stollen, the Master Key and the email connected to the account will be require within a month for account retrieval. BACK UP AND PROTECT your Master Password. It is not retrievable when lost.

ACTIVE KEY

This is like a key to your strong room or your safe. It is used to perform tasks involving money. When you need to transfer fund, power up Steem, convert Steem dollar, Vote for witness or carryout any other transaction involving fund, you employ your active key. If you would safeguard the key to your safe, you need not be told what to do to your Active Key. A compromise to a third party may lead to a theft of your fund.

POSTING KEY

This is the key you use to login to Steemit on daily basis. It allows you make posts and reply to comments; it is used to edit, follow or mute others.

OWNER KEY

This is a key that is used when you want to change other keys apart from the Master Key.

KEEPING THE KEYS SAFE

In view of the sensitivity of these keys, I want to securely save them. Therefore, I have a copy of all the keys in two of my emails - yahoo mail and gmail. I will also make a print out of a hard copy to be attached to my file.

TRANSFERRING A STEEM TOKEN

I have not attempted a transfer of token to another Steem user. I have no doubt I can do this when I need to, by opening the drop down box and clicking on wallet. The good thing about steemit is it is designed to take user on a step by step guide. Thanks to @talkfaith and @focusnow for being ever willing to direct me.

POWERING UP YOUR STEEM

This builds your steem power and gives you power to make a significant vote on posts.

You power up your steem by clicking your drop down box, go down to 'POWER UP'. The amount of steem liquid you have will be shown bellow and out of it, you determine how much you want to power up and then then key it into the box above.
