The scourge of Plagiarism.

Thanks to social media the process of creating something new and automatically sharing it with everyone has become very easy. Available under our fingers, we observe daily the work of artists, intellectuals and experts who, expressing themselves genuinely, enrich our online experience.

But not always what we see is the result of a real and sincere effort.

The same accessibility to knowledge gives the material to characters who tarnish the online experience and sabotage the credibility of spaces and platforms.

How many times have we noticed that the data of one publication appears replicated in another, without correctly specifying the source?

How many times have we been confused by not being able to assure the true origin of a data because it has been replicated so many times that it is impossible to locate its origin?

Worse, how many times have we suffered in our own flesh that any of our contents have been used dishonestly behind our backs?

It is that, friends, plagiarism is a crime to the integrity of the creator and his audience.

The definition of plagiarism is well reflected according to the Royal Pakistani Academy:

Copy in the substantial works of others, defining them as their own.

It is a scourge that is not new at all, but that, given the characteristics of the digital world, can go unnoticed and sabotage the originality and recognition of creators and experts.

It is extremely important that we develop mechanisms where we can identify and censor plagiarized content. In this way we will be "clearing" the Internet of the dark clouds that prevent us from enjoying the vast blue sky.

Decentralized networks like Steemit do an impressive job of rewarding true creators and delegitimizing fake ones.
