Achievement 3 Task Content Etiquette Post by @shanow
Happy day to the members of the Newcomers' Community
As a requirement to meet achievement 3, I will talk today about plagiarism, its types and how to avoid it in our Steemit publications.
Plagiarism is defined according to the Royal Spanish Academy as:
The action of "copying in substance the works of others, giving them as their own"
source
Plagiarism is considered a crime and is not well received in Steemit, so it is necessary that we know the different types of plagiarism or the most common ways of committing it:
Complete Plagiarism: It consists of completely copying the work of another person. Of course, this is the most serious type of plagiarism because it amounts to stealing another author's work, work, or manuscript.
Partial plagiarism: It consists of copying exactly part of the text of a work without indicating the source of the information.
Self-Plagiarism: This consists of publishing all or part of a work (of our authorship) that was previously published. It is equivalent to duplicating our work.
Paraphrase: It consists of copying a text and changing some parts or words to make it pass for us.
Mosaic Plagiarism: It is similar to partial plagiarism with the difference that it combines or collects texts from several authors.
Plagiarism: It consists of giving reference or sources that are false or incorrect. This type also includes falsification of data in investigations.
Now, already knowing what plagiarism is and its types, it is important to know how to avoid it:
Copied texts must be formatted for HTML verbatim quotations. With this we indicate that the words are not of our authorship.
We must always place the source from which the information was extracted. This includes text and images.
Preferably we should use our own images. If we use images from the internet we must choose those that have a free license which are obtained for example in wikimedia and pixabay.
With all this information and already read the codes of social ethics established in Steemit, we can proceed to make our posts on this platform according to the guidelines.
I hope my post will help and guide the new steemians. I wish you success on this wonderful platform.
