The Interview

It felt like being in school again; it has been so long. Made to read boring material and to answer questions. A test. I'd been alone in the room for some time. Just myself, a boring read, a huge screen, and a few others facing the same test. Then, the screen crackled to life...

"I trust everyone has read the information presented to them and is prepared to provide evidence of such. We begin with you," spat the man on the screen as a spotlight from high in the rafters washed over me.

Question 1: Have you retrieved all your keys on steemit?

The question was barked in a cold, impatient manner. "Yes," I answer, trying to emulate the robotic tone of the questioner. "The file with my keys has been saved to a backup hard drive as well as physically written down in case of hard drive failure. The physical copy resides in a safety box for added protection."

Question 2: Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?

Little time was wasted after my answer before a second question was peppered towards me. "Indeed," I explain, trying to maintain the same monotonous tones. Trying not to show my discomfort as the spotlight makes it hard to see. "The posting key is the one I should use for normal functions like posting or interacting in general on the social platform. The active key is for wallet related activities such as transferring and powering up and down.
Memo is only really used to encrypt or decrypt privates messages through the blockchain. The master and owners keys are capable of resetting the passwords beneath them and are more for account recovery if it is needed."

Question 3: How do you plan to keep your master password?

The interviewer continues. "Like I said in response to the first question, I have it stored both as a file on a backup hard drive and in physical form, locked away for security". The face on the screen distorts ever so slightly and there is a flicker in their eyes for the briefest of moment...the first sign of emotion. I sense I have offended them but as I nervously begin to apologize, the interviewer continues.

Question 4: Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?

"Yes, by logging into you wallet, preferably with the active key, then using the transfer button in the dropdown menu beside your Steem total, confirming the amount and address transferring to are correct before confirming the transaction."

Question 5: Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

"Yes. Under the same dropdown menu is the option to power up, which vests your Steem in the platform, taking a total of one month to withdraw in 25% chunks. I have already done this with what little I have and all of my posts are at 100% power up."

Without a word, the spotlight switched to the user beside me and the interviewer started over with his line of cold, passionless questioning. Two men, shrouded in black came to escort me from the room, the interview complete. Where they are taking me, however, I do not know...
