Hi All,
There are few things which everybody must learn and understand before trying to go deep in steemit as a new user. One of them is the knowledge of basic security on Steem.
So, in this article, I am going to explain what they are, according to my knowledge as best as I can.

Normally, we use a password when we logging in to any system. Simply, it helps to secure the account information and our activities.
But in steemit, you find several keys with different names. (Do not try to remember them, because they are long strings with numbers and different characters. )

I hope you may have lots of questions about these keys.
Let me help you.

Why so many keys? Why not just one?
Because they play different roles and they have different access level in your account.

How to retrieve all your keys on steemit?
It is simple. Using your master password, please log in to steemit wallet. Then, visit the Keys & Permissions section and there is all the information about your keys. Keys may not be visible at first sight. There is a small button to reveal the keys. Go for it. Here, you may be asked again to enter the master password. After that, you should be able to see all your keys.

Now you got keys but do you know each of these key functions and their restrictions?
Let`s talk about one by one.

Posting key: This is the most basic key to do all most all of daily activities when using steemit. Such as voting, commenting, editing or deleting a post, following people, resteem or joining to a community etc.

Active key: This key is used for financial purposes. Transferring Steem or SBD, placing orders on the Steem Exchange, changing account settings, powering up, or powering down Steem etc. Most importantly do not give this key to anyone otherwise you may lose all of your Steem and SBDs. So if you do not want to do something related to the above points, you do not have to use the Active key.

Owner key: This is the most powerful and most important key. It has superpowers like changing anything in your account and do all the things which Active and Post keys are capable of. And also it can reset your all other keys as well. So if someone gets this key, it means probably you are in grave danger.
So, please be super super careful with this key.

Memo key: This key is used for encrypting and decrypting memos private messages which are sent over the blockchain.

How do you plan to keep your master password? Not only the master password but all of them.
Ah. It is simple. After I retrieved them, pasted into a text file and now it is happily hidden in a secret folder in my computer. No one can see it.
Mm…that is an excellent idea but may not work all the time. What if, something happens to your computer? You lose them forever. Now do not blame me because I told you earlier try not to remember them. At least you must keep them stored in three different ways. You told you already have one copy in your secret folder.
Now, save one in external hard drive. Much better if you can get a printed copy and save it in your vault or something like that. If you have another good idea please share with us in the below comment section.

Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?
You might think it is a difficult process but it is not.
Go to your steemit wallet and you will see how much steem token you have in your wallet. Now, click on the drop-down icon and in that menu, you can see a few options. Click the transfer option and a new page opens and fills the necessary details and you can complete the transaction.

Now you have some idea about keys and transactions, so may I ask one last question?
Do you know how to power up your STEEM?
If you do not know, don`t worry. Please follow the steps which I explained in the previous question and then in the drop-down menu, please select the power-up option. Then it will prompt a dialogue box asking amount. So enter the amount and go ahead.
Congratulations! You got your Steem Powers up.
