Achievement 2 task :Basic security on steemit.
SECURITY:
Security is freedom from, or resilience against potential harm (or other unwanted intruders) these are precautionary methods or means applied to keep someone or something safe e.g keeping a steemit account secured. Security in steemit account that can lead to discontinuity when tempered with.
The various keys delegated to keep the steemit block chain system secured and safe from hackers includes:
1). The active keys
2). Private owner keys
3). posting keys
4). Memo keys
5). Master password
VARIOUS FUNCTIONS OF THE DIFFERENT STEEMIT SECURITY KEYS
A) THE ACTIVE KEY
This is used for monetary and wallet related transactions, such as transferring tokens or steem powering up and down.
B) PRIVATE OWNER KEY
This key serves as a factory reset key, it is used to reset all your other keys when forgotten or any security bridge. It is recommended to keep it offline at all times. If your account is compromised, use this key to recover it within 30 days.
C) PRIVATE POSTING KEY
The private posting key is used for log in to apps such as Steemit.com and perform social actions such as posting, commenting, and voting.
D) MEMO KEY
Is a special key used to decrypt private transfer memos.
E) MASTER PASSWORD
This key cannot be shared. As it is used to generate any key for a steemit account. It is mostly used for recovering compromised or forgotten password accounts.
HOW TO TRANSFER STEEM
Sign into your wallet using the active key.
Scroll down to where Steem is written boldly in green and click the small triangle.
Click on “Transfer"
In the new window, fill in the username you want to transfer to and the amount you want to Transfer.
Click on “Next" to confirm transaction.
HOW TO POWER UP
Sign into your wallet using the active key.
Scroll down to where Steem is written boldly in green and click the small triangle.
Click on “Power Up"
On the window, enter the amount you want to transfer to increase your steem power(SP), and then click powerup.
Click 'OK' to confirm.
