What is plagiarism??
- The process or practice of using another person's ideas work and pretending that it is your own.
- Incorporate work or ideas from another source into your work without full acknowledge.
- Plagiarism can also include re-using your own work without citation.
Types of Plagiarism
1: Complete Plagiarism
- It is most serious form of Plagiarism.
- Researchers simply takes an original manuscript or research work that someone else created and submitted under his/her name.
2: Source Based Plagiarism
- Researcher references sources inaccurately or incompletely.
- Only few sources are cited not the whole or accidentally miscredit the original Author.
3: Direct Plagiarism
- It is also called verbatim plagiarism.
- Directly coping someone else's words, sentences, paragraph or section without any attribution.
4: Self or Auto Plagiarism
- Re-using your own research work without any citation.
5: Paraphrasing Plagiarism
- Researcher takes another Researcher's ideas and put them into own words with minor changes.
- It can be OK if the researcher gives credit to the author.
6: In Accurate Authorship
- Giving credit to the researcher who don't have any contribution in research.
- A researcher contributed in research but not credited.
- It is also called Collaboration Plagiarism.
- It happens when two or more collaborate in a research but only one person giving credit.
7: Mosaic Plagiarism
- It is also called Patchwork Plagiarism.
- Researcher takes pieces from various sources and compile them into a single piece.
- Researcher use similar structure and language, synonyms are used.
8: Accidental Plagiarism
- Researcher unintentionally miss some sources (books, articles, and hyperlinks) due workload and paraphrasing.
How to Avoid plagiarism
- Avoid copy and paste
- Use proper Quotation
- Cite your source
- Maintain record of sources you have used
- Use plagiarism checker software before submission of project.
