From my own view point, "plagiarism" is the act of copying other people's work or contents without their authorisation or referencing.( i.e) stealing or theft of someone's ideas, thoughts, language or expression.
Plagiarism is a breach of academic integrity. It is a principle of intellectual honesty that all members of the academic community should acknowledge their debt to the originator of the ideas, words, and data which form the basis for their own work. "Linebaugh, the London Hanged,p.213".
Firstly, it may seem very difficult to develop your own views, and you will probably find yourself paraphrasing the writings of others as you attempt to understand and assimilate their argument.
However, it is important that you learn to develop your own voice. You are not necessarily expected to become an original thinker, but you are expected to be an independent one by learning to assess critically the work of others,weigh up differing arguments and draw your own conclusion.

We have the following types of plagiaris# *DIRECT PLAGIARISM: this is word for word borrowing from an unacknowledged source, whether intentional or not.
*MOSAIC PLAGIARISM:this occurs when a writer reuses a mix of words, phrases and ideas from a source without indicating which words or idea have been borrowed or without citing the source.
How TO PREVENT PLAGIARISM:
- EDUCATION: people need to be educated about word plagiarism is,why it is wrong and how to properly cite sources.
- TECHNOLOGY: this has to do with utilising detection software that can accurately without instances of duplicate content perior to distribution.
WHY YOU SHOULD AVOID PLAGIARISM:
- because you aspire to produce work of the highest quality.
*You will reap the additional benefit of improvement to both the lucidity and quality of your writing.
CONSEQUENCES OF PLAGIARISM:
plagiarism allegation can cause someone to be suspended or expelled.
