---Achievement 3---

Hi everyone,👋 Myself @miansubhanafzal applying for Achievement 3 "Content Etiquette". Through this achievement, I have come to know things about plagiarism like; What is plagiarism? whether it is a text💬, an image📷, or a video📽️. Types, disadvantages, and how it can be controlled?

Today I will share the knowledge and information about plagiarism. Plagiarism is going to be a serious problem in the upcoming days. Some people do it unintentionally, while others do it intending to steal their work and get credit.

What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism involves using someone else's ideas, words, or words without giving them credit or not providing the source of that particular thing through citations (citations refer to giving a source or reference of that original content). As Harris Copper said;

"Plagiarism involves the copying of text into a new work without crediting it to the original source."

Various types of plagiarism exist, some of them are in following:

  1. Direct Plagiarism: This means directly copying and using text from someone else without giving a source or credit to that particular person.
    For Example; Copying a paragraph from a website and using it in a personal school essay or in any other form without giving credit to the source.

  2. Accidental Plagiarism (Unintentional plagiarism): this type of plagiarism occurs out of ignorance.
    For Example; Using someone's work without giving its source or reference, thinking that it is acceptable or legal.

  3. Modified Plagiarism: This means when someone edits or modifies someone's work while retaining a part of the original work to make it look new without citing or giving credit to the original work.

Disadvantages

Plagiarism is not only morally wrong and unethical, but it also amounts to stealing and defaming the original author or their work. Engaging in such activities can lead to serious consequences, such as legal action, which may result in imprisonment or a heavy fine💰.

How can Plagiarism be Controlled?

Plagiarism can be avoided in various ways which are in the following;

  • Give proper reference or credit to the source and author respectively called Citations. This shows respect for their work and helps avoid plagiarism. For Example;

"What a good thing Adam had. When he said a good thing, he knew nobody had said it before."

  • Being original make your own work, make your own content and ideas.

Thank you 🤝🌹 @heriadi for approving my Achievement 3. Can you please give me some details about achievement 4...?

Hello, welcome to steem

You did not show the example of a citation.

You need to present how to cite a text when it is taken as references from somewhere else. (including source)

reply to this comment when you are done.
