Achievement 2. @mexacliff: Basic security on Steem
The rate of cyber crime is on the increase and the basic factor is having access to people's account through their passwords. This year in particular, there has been a high rate of hacking into people's accounts on social media especially Facebook. This has called for the need for individuals to tighten their account security. As unique as Steemit is, it's password can not be predicted, but the need to take necessary precautions is still there.
This starts from awareness of the different keys on Steemit and how to use them.
Active key
This key is used to transfer funds, power up/down transactions, vote for witnesses, update profile details and convert steem dollars.
Owner key
This is the most powerful, and as the name implies, it is used by the owner to recover a compromised account.
Memo key
This key is used to either encrypt or decrypt memos when transferring funds.
Posting key
As the name implies,it allows the account to log in, post, comment, vote, edit, resteem, follow or mute other accounts.
Importance of knowing the keys
Knowing and securing theses keys will give me a stress-free Steemit experience, in the sense that i won't have problems of compromised account and security issues.
