Hello Steemians, I hope your day has been amazing. Today, I will be talking on a topic in Biology, “The Blood Vessels.” This would be for my achievement 4, having completed other achievements in the past few days.
Achievement 4 task shows how to apply markdown styles in a post on Steemit. Markdown styles are very important as they make a post very organized, neat, and more presentable to a reader.
There are various markdown styles that help organize a post. They include: justify, align, centralize, italics, bold, source, citation, table and numbering. I’ll be showing these styles in the post.
This topic/post will be relatable to all, because as humans, we all have blood vessels in our body.
Blood Vessels
Blood Vessels as the name implies are vessels/carriers of blood to and away from the heart. All the blood in the body is taken towards the heart or away from it by these blood vessels.
There are 3 major blood vessels in the body: the arteries, the veins and capillaries.
- Arteries: These blood vessels take blood away from the heart. {Arteries carry blood Away}.They are usually elastic(so they won’t break due to the high blood pressure the heart produces). Arteries are muscular as well with small opening for passage of blood.
An artery is a blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart to other parts of the body. Almost all arteries carry blood with a lot of oxygen in it. The only arteries that do not carry oxygen-rich blood are the pulmonary artery, and (in a fetus) the umbilical artery.
Veins: These blood vessels carry blood from all round the body to the heart. The vein has a bigger space and are less elastic because the pressure is reduced.
Capillaries: These blood vessels join the arteries to the veins. They have thin walls which allows diffusion of nutrients, gases, etc to occur between the blood and cells in the body.
Differences between Arteries and Veins
