Hello friends of Newcomers' Community! I wish they were doing very well.

Below I present my publication of the 3rd achievement, related to Plagiarism.

What is Plagiarism?

According to the definition given by the Royal Spanish Academy, plagiarism is

"Substantially copying other people's works, giving them as one's own". (RAE,2001). In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves stealing someoneelse's work and lying about it later, pretending it's our property, when in fact it wassomeone else's idea Source

This means that plagiarism is committed when a person passes off as his authorship, some writing, photograph, drawing, among other material, which belongs to a third party. Just by partially copying it, paraphrasing it or not granting the author's credits, the crime of plagiarism is being committed.

How to avoid committing plagiarism?

Always present the source of the information from which you were guided to elaborate your content. It can be a website, magazine, newspaper, social network, among others.

As it could be seen, when defining the plagiarism I made a textual quote, using quotation marks, and presenting the link of the source of information. This is an example of a type of quote that you could apply to your content.

Learn to analyze a text from a third party, to leave aside the typical paraphrasing. You must have merit for your content! And always give the source of information.

Avoid "self-plagiarism", which is nothing more than taking information from us and re-presenting it "as new".

Remember that the original content and that consists of its corresponding sources of information consulted, will always have more value.

In Steemit the subject of plagiarism is very frowned upon, studied and sanctioned by competent users and of different languages. From an internet text to a screenshot taken from a video, the users in charge have discovered and sanctioned the plagiarists. Better, avoid a bad time and comply with the rules of the platform. Respect other people's original works or content!
