Achievement 3 Content etiquette @imohmitch || 6-5-22
Plagiarism
Greetings to everyone in this media, I am here to create an awareness on Plagiarism which is my achievement 3.
it is a very common act found in social mediums, taking place in plenty but not all social media handles ,that is to say exception of “STEEMIT”. It involves taking someone’s post or content and writing it out as your own without proper citation(writing down the source of the work. It is very easy to copy someone’s work than to make a new work which will waste your time and it requires effort, so let’s say someone that is lazy to write his own content will be a lap rat to plagiarism. I hope we know about plagiarism, which is copying someone’s work, then using it as your work without proper accreditation to the author. Let’s see the types of plagiarism.
What's etiquette
This is a way which of good behavior in a system among people of the same goal.
Types of plagiarism
Direct plagiarism:
The name explains it all , “Direct” which means straight , so all together it means taking someone’s work directly without making changes to the work , that is, making a copy and paste option. If a plagiarism checker is being used, it will show that the work is 100% plagiarized.
Patch writing/mosaic plagiarism:
This cones in when a student borrows a phrase from a source without using quotation marks.
Accidental plagiarism:
As the name implies , is a plagiarism being made by accident , you didn’t do it intentionally . It is not giving proper credit from someone else’s ideas, research or words even if it was not intentional to present them as your own.
Ways to avoid/solve plagiarism
Citing of sources (citation)
When we use images or texts that are not our own, that is we copied it from a site or from another author what we have to do here is to site the source where we carried it from.
So I am going to show you and example of citation
Source
What am doing here is citation since the photo I brought in here is not my personal photo I got it from the site so I had to bring in the site I got the photo from
In writing a content , you also need other ideas, to form part , or wake up your own idea, so when you get this part you have to write down where you got it from and pasting it’s link, that’s a proper citation
Using the plagiarism checker
it has really helped in fighting plagiarism, you will copy the text you want to check then paste it in your plagiarism checker box then click check plagiarism, it will scan and check the uniqueness of the post if it is 0% plagiarism then you are good to go.
"I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them".
