ACHIVEMENT 2: BASIC SECURITY ON STEEM by @etiboy56

Good day everyone, am @etiboy56 and am also very glad to take part in this achievement 2 task which is about basic security tips on Steemit. I want to appreciate my friend @evegrace for introducing me into this great community and encouraging me to participate in this achievement 2 task.

Security key is very vital and it is what give access or defends to an account. Steemit security key is very important for users, knowing its function and to secure them is very important to users as well.

In Steemit we have 5 (five) unique keys and their functions. I have learnt a lot about this keys and I have discovered that these keys must saved in an external drive to avoid loosing your key due to hard drive failure. It is also vital to note that Steemit Keys are used according to their specific functions and that is why it is important for new comers to study and understand these keys.

LIST OF STEEMIT KEYS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS:

POSTING KEY: this key is very important, as users are advised to use this key in our daily activities such as; posting, editing, resteeming, follow and mute accounts.

ACTIVE KEY: this used for special purposes such as; transferring funds, powering up/down your steem balance, voting, converting steem to dollars, updating your profile, avatar and placing market orders.

OWNER KEY: this key is very important and can be when only needed by users, it can change any other keys in your account including itself by that I mean ( the owner key). Please note that this key must be saved offline and a place it can be recovered for emergency. It is also a key needed to recover an account.

MEMO KEY: this may look less important but you must also save it because it is used to view and read encrypted messages. That is why it must be stored some were safe.

MASTER KEY: this is the boss of them all, it is very vital to keep an offline copy some were safe. This is the key you got when you were registered and it can be use to generate other keys including your Owner key. Please take if you give your master password out or you expose it know for sure that your account is gone, including all your tokens.

Please note that it is vital that you safe offline copy of your keys some way safe and please no matter what happens do not disclose your keys especially your Master key and your Owner key to someone to avoid your account from been stolen.

Another thing I have discovered is Steem wallet: it is made up of three things, which are; Steem, Steem power and Steem back dollar (SBD).

Lets explain them one after the other:

STEEM: this is the liquid coin, it can be used for transactions or can be powered up into steem power.

STEEM POWER: This gives you more value in your day tot day activities especially when posting. And it can be transferred back to steem (i.e the liquid) which will take a month to complete the process.

STEEM BACK DOLLAR(SBD): it can be used to trade fro more Steem (liquid) or transferred from one account to another.

HOW TO TRANSFER TOKENS
First you go to your wallet
Then you will see a drop arrow near your Steem balance(liquid) click on it and click on Transfer

Then enter the name of the designated person and enter the amount to transfer

And click Next and Ok.

HOW TO POWER UP:

While you are still on your wallet, you click on the drop down arrow near your Steem
And click on Power Up

Then you enter the amount to power up

And click on Power Up.
