Achievement 2 @edurumbah1 Task : Basic Security on Steem

Security is a very important aspect of any website or organization to protect users privacy and keep their data safe. Trust is usually gained when people are assured a state of being free from danger or threat.

Block chain as the name implies is a chain of digital “blocks” that contain records of transactions. Each block is connected to all the blocks before and after it. since the creation of the block chain system, security has been a very important part of the system securing block records through cryptography.

A password sometimes called a pass code according to Wikipedia is a memorized secret, typically a string of characters, usually used to confirm the identity of a user.

Steemit is a very beautiful platform and i admire their concern in securing users and also helping them have their keys in pdf format unlike other platforms that ask users to take a screenshot of their keys, which i think is a risky thing to do because the user might delete the picture unintentionally.

The basic security keys include the private posting keys, private active keys, private active keys, private memo keys and the private owner keys.

Posting keys are used for : Login in, Publishing, Commenting, Editing, Upvoting or downvoting on a post. Also Resteeming contents, Muting accounts, Following and unfollowing accounts can also be done using the posting keys.

Active keys are used for : Monetary purposes and wallet transactions eg. Transferring funds, Powering up or down steems, Voting, Converting Steem dollars, Placing of orders, Profile editing and Publishing a witness price feed.

Memo keys are used for: Encrypting memos by using the pound/# sign before it and decrypt private transfer memos.

Owner keys are used for: Changing/Resetting other keys and Retrieving accounts. Usually recommended to be kept offline.

Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit? I downloaded my keys immediately after signing up and saved them for future use.

Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions? Sure read them carefully to understand their uses.

How do you plan to keep your master password? I think that should be my private business.

Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account? Sure. First selecting transfer, input the receiver's username, enter my private active keys and send.

Do you know how to power up your STEEM? Yes. Selecting power up. It's then converted to steem power.
