What is plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the act of consciously or unknowingly taking someone else’s work without credit for the time and effort put into developing it. In the work-case situation, you might be sanctioned and even imprisoned for plagiarism if it reaches the hands of lawmakers. It is also considered a moral violation because it tarnishes your reputation.

Types of plagiarism:

1. Direct plagiarism

In this case, the plagiarist copies and pasted the work of another writer word for word without citing the source with the intention of talking all the credit to himself. # 2. Mosaic plagiarism:

In this case, the plagiarist may have mentioned the source of the content that he copied but did not acknowledge it properly by putting it under the quotation marks correctly.

3. Self plagiarism:

This occurs when a writer copies and pastes part of their previous works without giving citation to the original content. # 4. Accidental plagiarism:

Because it is inadvertent, this is the most common sort of plagiarism. The writer may, as a result of his research, copy some easy-to-copy words quotes and include them into his writing.

How to avoid plagiarism:

1. Always give proper citations of content from the source.
2. Avoid wanting to take credit for what is originally not our work.
3. Make proper research in other to create original content and always make use of plagiarism checking apps to check for plagiarism.
