Achievement 3 Task Content Etiquette Post by @bakthi

Hello everyone. I am bakthi and I want to present this post to you in order to fulfill my achievement 3 on content protocols. So, I'll get started.

According to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), plagiarism is conceptualized as follows:

It is the action of copying in the substance works of others, giving them as their own.

This specific concept reminds me of some characters that appear in one of the Marvel movies which are, The Skrulls.

source

I'm really fond of these movies and to explain the plagiarism, I'll explain a little bit about these characters. It is an extraterrestrial race that arrives on earth and they have a very particular ability, and I know that they change shape, that is, they can adopt any human form, thus becoming the person they have decided to copy. Seeing the scenes we notice that their original form, or how they look is no longer like that, but is like the person they copied. However, they are not that person, although they impersonate her.

There is a specific scene that one of these characters takes the form of an agent walking with Nick Fury, and even though he looked identical, he was not the agent. But Nick Fury manages to notice it for a detail he leaves, and that is that his way of speaking and knowledge was not the same.

Something similar is plagiarism, apparently we can see a work that they have copied as very good, however, there are details that will show that the project embodied or the idea is plagiarism.

The Common Types of Plagiarism

Direct Plagiarism

Direct plagiarism is the word-for-word transcription of a section of someone else’s work, without attribution and without quotation marks. The deliberate plagiarism of someone else's work is unethical, academically dishonest, and grounds for disciplinary actions, including expulsion.

Self Plagiarism

Self-plagiarism occurs when a student submits his or her own previous work, or mixes parts of previous works, without permission from all professors involved. For example, it would be unacceptable to incorporate part of a term paper you wrote in high school into a paper assigned in a college course. Self-plagiarism also applies to submitting the same piece of work for assignments in different classes without previous permission from both professors.

Mosaic Plagiarism

Mosaic Plagiarism occurs when a student borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks, or finds synonyms for the author’s language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original. Sometimes called “patch writing,” this kind of paraphrasing, whether intentional or not, is academically dishonest and punishable – even if you footnote your source!

These acts can be seen to be committed when sources are cited incorrectly, when we pretend to be the creators of the published or exposed content, also when we present ideas from others without specifying from which source it comes. We must prevent all this by taking appropriate measures.

We must avoid falling into this type of act since it is very frowned upon and sanctioned within Steemit. The Steemit team is aware that there is no plagiarism, so if we want to show the idea of someone else we place the source, that is, we must reference all published material that is not of our authorship.

On the other hand, the platform rewards original and own content. Let's not copy other people's work, be original and provide good content.
