From before registering I look for videos about platform; all the ones I saw agreed that we must not lose our keys! Let alone share them. If we lose them we can NOT recover them, so to better understand the subject and bring you my post on "Basic Safety in Steem"
I confess that at first I was a little cowed to see that they were several keys and even difficult to learn them by heart (which I think is the idea). Similarly. Put the fear aside and take some time to understand them perfectly. I didn't take any steps back; Research and analyze it to bring to you what I learned:
Have you obtained and saved all your Steemit passwords?
When I registered I obtained an initial key and with it it gave us the opportunity to receive a PDF file with all my keys, saving them immediately and jealously on the PC, and in two separate memories.
Do you know all the functions and restrictions of the keys?
Starting I asked myself "Why so much key?" Well, soon grasp that each one has its purpose, and it is something that is basic and primordial to achieve our objectives within the platform.
And to know a little more here I bring them:
Master key: With this we can recover the other keys and the account as such.
Owner key: Gives us access to switch to any of the other keys.
Post key: It allows us to vote, comment, upload our content, edit, etc.
Activation key: It is very important because we use it to be able to transfer our funds and make movements in the wallet.
Memo Key: Its function is to encrypt and decrypt.
How do you plan to keep your master key safe?
It is not recommended to share the keys at all, so you have to protect them in safe places. Previously I said that I had saved them on my PC and memories separately, also manually copy them and that they are also safe.
Do you know how to transfer your Steem tokens to another Steem user?
Yes, when entering our profile, we give clip to wallet. It's that fast.
He immediately opens the wallet, from there we see everything we have, and at once we are located where STEEM says:
We click on the word STEEM or the flechita that is right on the side, a menu of several options is displayed, the first is "transfer" and it is the one we will choose.
Once given to the word "transfer" shows us a little screen where it requests some data that must be filled out according to what it asks us, that is; the user to whom we will send the Steem and the quantity.
And then confirm the operation or transaction taking into account our Active Key.
Do you know how to perform the power up process in Steem?
It is fast, simple and similar to the previous one.
Being in our Wallet we are also located where it says STEEM, we click and fold several options; it is just the third POWER UP that we will select.
When we click on it, another little screen appears that asks us for some data that must be filled.
And we give it back in power up, then we confirm with our active key thus finalizing the transaction.
As you can see it is super simple and important to protect our keys as safely as possible as well as to understand the function of each one.
