Achievement 6 Task by @adylinah : Understanding Curation and Community

Greetings everyone!
I am so excited to reach this level in my achievement tasks. I appreciate @cryptokannon for all the tutorials given from achievement one to six. Today, I will proceed to achievement 6 which is all about understanding curation and community.

How Voting and Curation Works in Steemit Platform

Curation start by voting on a quality contents. Steemit voting works like other social medias but the difference is that; steemit provide rewards to authors when his/her content is voted on. This process only work on steemit depending on the amount of steem power (SP) a user has in his /her wallet. After voting, the rewards are being distributed which is now known as the curation.

From the above image, once you click on the upvote, you instantly start distributing rewards from the reward pool to the author. Casting of this vote and influence of rewards usually depends on the voting mana that you have currently which is set at 100% and whenever vote is cast, 20% of the remaining voting mana will be used and it will recharge by 20% each day.

Also, down voting of content do not earn a user any curation rewards. The downvote pool is 25% of the upvote mana pool and it drains up mana first before draining normal mana. Everyone can upvote and also downvote with 100% voting strength but when you hit up to 500 steem power (SP), a vote slider will appear for you to be able to adjust the weight of your voting capacity which is between 1%-100% voting strength.
The third party tools (steemscan and steemb.io) can be used to view voting mana.
Curation rewards can be earned from upvoting both posts and comments.
Secondly, downvoting doesn't attract curation rewards because it decrease the rewards on posts or comments. This reward is distributed equally for author and curator. That is; 50% goes to the author through post and comment while 50% goes to the curator.

5 Minutes Marks After Posting

When you publish post, 100% curation rewards stays in the pool and I will like to illustrate it in a tabular form for proper understanding what happened if one vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting.

The Witnesses of Steemit

Witnesses are those appointed by steem blockchain to generate a new block every 3 seconds. They are up to 21 but we have 20 full-time witnesses. They generate 21 blocks in each 63 second. These witnesses work very hard to guide and run the steem blockchain and each steemit user can vote 30 witnesses.
@steemchiller who generated steemworld.org and @justyy too who generated steemyy.com will definitely get my vote because they invented the these great tools we are using in the platform today for easy transactions.

Why I Decided to Join Communities in Steemit

I decided to join communities that attract my interest in steemit platform. I will state out some few reasons why I joined these communities.

Newcomers Community

This was the first community I joined as a newbie on steemit because I needed to learn and know how steemit works.

In steemfoods community, I can easily learn new cooking skills from other users and also share my food recipes for other people to benefit from it.

Steemkids Community

I joined this community because of the pure love I have for kids and also because of the educative activities going on there.

Steem Entrepreneurs Community

Business ideas and knowledge are shared in steem entrepreneur community which was the main aim of me joining.

SteemWomen Club Community

In this community, women are encouraged on how valuable they are in the society and they also get to learn and interact with one another.
