Plagiarism means presenting someone else’s work as your own. In academic writing, plagiarizing involves using words, ideas, or information from a source without including a proper citation.
Plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty. Whether you’re a student submitting a paper to a class or a researcher submitting to a journal, it’s expected that the work you submit is your own.
Plagiarism can have serious consequences for students and researchers, even when it’s done accidentally. To avoid plagiarism, it’s important to keep track of your sources and cite them correctly.
is your own. citation

Plagiarism is a fraudulent act that can be punishable in court for violation of moral rights and copyright infringement

Plagiarism might not be the same in all countries, In most countries, people are being imprisoned for plagiarism while some countries sees it as academic dishonesty.

Types of plagiarism

Self Plagiarism is when a writer or student come up with his or her or own previous work or insert parts of previous work without the knowledge of the authorities or teacher involved.

Accidental Plagiarism occurs when a writer or researcher fails to give credit to the source which parts of their works was borrowed from or mistakenly paraphrase a source by using same words or sentence. Accidental Plagiarism has the same consequences as any other types of Plagiarism

Mosaic Plagiarism

Mosaic Plagiarism occurs when a writer borrows his work or phrase from a source without using quotation mark, it can also occur when a writer try to use synonyms of an author's article or phrase while trying to come up with the same meaning as the original author. This is academic dishonesty and a punishable offence

Verbatim Plagiarism

Verbatim plagiarism means copying a text directly from the source without giving credit to the author or using quotation marks.

How to Avoid Plagiarism

In Steemit Plagiarism is highly prohibited, to avoid it do the following;

  1. When adding phrase, sentence or image from a source, use a quotation and provide the source where your got your work by citing the source.

  2. When expressing an idea or information from a source, paraphrase or summarize it entirely in your own words.

  3. Present your own ideas or words, explore what you have to say about it. Think of what unique aspects or point you can contribute in your writing that’s entirely your own.

I was able to learn how to cite my write up with the help of the markdown code template for citation format
