Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of imitating the originality of someone else's work; most commonly, articles fall into this category, although other items, such as music, pictures, books, and art, can also be plagiarized. Plagiarism occurs when you take someone else's work, in whole or in part, and claim it as your own, with the intent of receiving compensation or credit for it.

Plagiarists, for example, will copy paragraphs or lines from other people's publications and use them in their own work without citing the original source.

In a nutshell, Plagiarism is defined as the receiving of material or other benefits from the use of another person's idea without requesting permission. The term "idea" encompasses tangible and intangible concepts.

Steemit promoting originality.

So many people wish to be a blogger but not yet familiar with things that are involved. Most importantly, a rewarding platform like steemit values only original contents hence, the necessity for the achievement tasks, that new users may know how things work on Steemit and that only original contents deserves reward.
It is not necessary that everyone becomes a writer, but on Steemit, you can showcase any of your talents, you may write in different niches of your choice, be creative enough and earn, instead of copy pasting other authors contents and trying to take the credit for it.

What can you do if you find needed contents in other authors publications?

It do happens that you find relevant or useful information elsewhere, which you can make use of in your own article.
What you have to do is simple: Copy the paragraph you need, paste it in your article and highlight it, and at the end of paragraph, site the source. Give credit to the original author. And if the author is reachable, you can directly seek permission to use the materials.
How to highlight: > Sentence
