Contest // Topic of the week №29 // My summer 2021! // Nomination from @sampu
The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to stay at home almost the entire 2020. Hence, when we got our vaccination, we decided to go for a family vacation.
This was an extended weekend trip to Dooars - which is the himalayan foothills famous for jungle, rivers and natural beauty.
On 26 March, we reached at Sealdah railway station by 6 pm. The train departed at scheduled departure time 7:30 pm. We reached Falakata next day at 9 am and hired a car to get dropped at Holong Bungalow.
This was a british bunglow inside the jungle that is now converted into a tourist lodge and maintained by West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation. This bunglow has a huge common room with windows offering a fantastic view of nearby jungle, salt-pit and Holong river.
We were able to spot peacock, jungle fowl, bison, gaur, and elephants.
After spending two days, we checked out and visited some of the nearby attraction and board the overnight train on 29 March. We came back to Kolkata on 30 March morning.
