Today unfolded with an air of great anticipation in Chattrogram, as we eagerly embarked on what promised to be an unforgettable picnic day. The Ladies community of my husband's colleagues had orchestrated the event, inviting all officers and their families to partake in a day of camaraderie and merriment.

Despite the winter chill, we roused ourselves a tad earlier than usual, our excitement overshadowing the inconveniences of winter preparation. This day held a unique significance for my family, especially my daughter, as it marked her inaugural foray into the world of picnic gatherings. Setting off at 8 a.m., we made our way to the venue, conveniently located next to our accommodation – the "Bir Muktijoddha Abu Jafor Park" in the Cantonment area.

Upon arrival, we found families already congregating, the atmosphere brimming with anticipation for the arrival of some senior officials, signaling the commencement of the day's main activities. In the interim, my husband, daughter, and I took the opportunity to explore the scenic surroundings, capturing moments through a delightful photo session.

As we waited for the senior most bhabi, my close friends and I engaged in lively conversations, capturing beautiful memories through snapshots. In military traditions, maintaining the chain of command and adhering to regulations was imperative. The chief guest's arrival heralded the beginning of the main picnic session, marked by warm greetings, a hearty communal breakfast, and a series of engaging games.

The day unfolded with the "Chocolate Run" for children, the "Cock Fight" for the men, and the ladies participating in the intriguing"Broke the pitcher" game, where we attempted to break a pitcher blindfolded. Though I opted out of this particular game, I reveled in the enjoyment it brought to others. The gaming spectrum extended to "Musical Chairs," "Pillow Passing," and the amusing "Hit the Goal post".

Despite my husband and I not clinching any prizes in the games, the sheer joy and camaraderie far surpassed any fleeting disappointment. After a delectable lunch featuring "Polaw," "Roast," "Egg Korma," "Beef," salad, beverages, and dessert, the festivities continued with a captivating fashion show and cultural performances by our talented children.

The pinnacle of the day was undoubtedly the prize ceremony and raffle draw. Initially feeling a tinge of melancholy for not securing any game prizes, fate had a delightful twist. During the raffle draw, both my number and my baby daughter's number were called for sixth and fourth position prizes. In a turn of events that caught us completely off guard, our family unexpectedly and surprisingly secured two prizes during the raffle draw session – Alhamdulillah a first-time occurrence in my life. The unexpected joy left us elated, and the entire community erupted in cheers.

As we bid adieu to an eventful day, I reflected on the beauty of this community. Being relatively new, I had the opportunity to connect with numerous residents, forging bonds through shared laughter and joy. The surprising raffle draw win will forever be etched in my memory, marking my first-ever win in such an event.

Saying our goodbyes, we returned to our abode, the day drawing to a close with a treasure trove of sweet and indelible memories. These moments will linger, a testament to the warmth and camaraderie shared with my newfound community.
