"I eat almost nothing and yet I can't lose weight!" This is one of the sentences that nutritionists and nutritionists hear suspiciously often from their clients during a consultation. After careful analysis of the menu, however, there are usually shocking, eye-opening revelations about how calories find their way to us.

You may have noticed that too often during the day you skip to the kitchen in search of "something tasty". Or sometimes the "curtain falls" on you and you can only calm down when you hold in your hands the now empty chocolate wrapper that you saved for worse times. And then you think - well, what happened? And what about the evening detective series, where your heart beats faster and chips or popcorn disappear from the bowl at the speed of light? Indiscriminate snacking, constant chewing and unnecessary snacks lead to an increase in energy intake, which can lead to weight gain or frustration at not being able to lose weight.

Some people think about food all the time, others only when they are hungry or when they smell the aroma of fresh bread from the bakery. However, according to scientists, on average, each of us makes more than 200 food-related decisions a day. And what is the most interesting here? That we consciously make only a small part of the decisions, and the rest happens somehow in autopilot mode and in accordance with our previous life habits. This can lead to unnecessary eating with a high likelihood of overeating and weight gain.

Each of us has our own eating habits. And these are pleasurable habits because eating stimulates the satisfaction center in our brain, which responds by releasing the neurotransmitter dopamine, and we feel happy and satisfied. That's why dessert, a piece of chocolate with coffee or a bowl of nuts in front of the TV quickly become regular habits in our daily lives, actions that we don't even think about, but do automatically.

"Meal Preparation", also known as systematic food preparation, is a very effective means of losing weight. This is because we have a clear caloric intake plan and any extra breakfast or snack outside of the plan means slowing down or even preventing weight loss. People often think that they burn a lot of calories during a sporting activity so they can reward themselves with food afterwards, which is a mistake. It's also common to 'try' too much when cooking, which can result in 'trying' an entire portion.

What exactly is indiscriminate snacking and constant "chewing"? We can understand it as unplanned and multiple meals between main meals. You might think that eating unplanned fruits and vegetables isn't a problem, but I dare say that for most of you, it isn't. Let's look at some simple ways you can combat binge eating and eradicate it from your life.

Each of us is a magician in our own way. Who hasn't been able to make a full bowl of chips or popcorn or a bar of chocolate disappear in an instant? When it seems to you that you are about to do the next "magic", stop for a moment, take a deep breath and think about why exactly you are craving something tasty?
