Steemit Engagement Challenge Season-8 Week-1: "The Power of Social Media"

The development of science and technology has occurred significantly so that it has penetrated all sectors of life, the effective use of every product of technology can have a positive impact on human civilization. This is a fact and technology should be used as a resource so as to help the work and needs of humans now and in the future.

The Engagement Challenge theme published by Steemit Philippines became a magnet for me so I became one of the participants in the engagement Challenge season 8 week 1.

16 years ago I got to know one of the most popular social media at that time (Friendsters), a social media created by Jonathan Abrams. At that time I was 23 years old and was working for a Non-Government Organization (NGO) American Red Cross with a Field Quality Control position.

Raquel (a Filipino national) who is my partner in a different division, introduced me to friendster. I have learned many things here and have made many friends in various countries with various ethnic cultures.

I really enjoy this media as a medium of friendship which has a positive impact on my insights about other countries in the world.

With a variety of social media currently growing, in my view the right age to be a social user is over 17 years old. However, users with an age range of 12 to 16 years can use social media but under parental supervision.

Children with an age range of 12 to 16 years are a vulnerable age and need to limit their use so that they (children) will wisely use social media under control.

If you look at the positive aspects of social media, users within the age range I mentioned above can explore the outside world so as to add insight and brain development.

Not being responsible for managing a social media account can be understood that the user is already inactive or not using social media wisely.

For social users who are not actively using social media, it is better to stop completely by deleting the account permanently. Permanently deleting as an effort to maintain its privacy so that it is not exploited by hackers to use it for unwanted things.

The correct use of social media is closely related to the purpose of social media. Everyone has different goals, not a few of them use it as a medium of entertainment, a media to stay in touch with friends who have not seen each other for a long time because they have lost access to information. However, many users actually use social media as a medium for doing business.

In general, what needs to be considered in using social media is to maintain account privacy, account privacy is an important thing that must be considered in social media, because everyone can get access to personal information and use it for their interests.

Keep using good communication because communication is an important element for account growth and development, followers will continue to grow and allow it to be used as a business medium. Change passwords regularly to keep accounts safe and free from thieves. Do not leave history/passwords in the application or the web

Social media will have a positive impact on economic growth if used efficiently. Currently, there are many consistent and total users taking advantage of social media. They generally run it as a potential medium in running a business.

The result... They are successful and get unexpected income, in principle is how to take advantage of existing potential by continuing to strive in accordance with the goals to be achieved.

I am sure that social media will have a tremendous impact on the economic growth of society.

Advantages: The advantages of social media are actually very many, the smallest thing I feel is meeting with friends in elementary school again, they have had careers abroad and we can re-establish communication, then on the business side, I get many benefits because I have used it as an online business service. I sell used cars and have a lot of profit without having to share with intermediaries like I have been doing so far.

Disadvantages: Some time ago my social media account in the form of Instagram was hacked, the hacker contacted some of my friends who often chat and they were asked to send cell phone credit and even the worst thing was they asked for some money.

In Indonesia, currently generally use social media in the form of Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok. Users generally use it as a medium of information and communication and many of them also use it as a medium for making money.
They sell products or even become content creators.

Many of them are successful because they are consistent, with cell phones, they already have regular income from endorsements and other bonuses.
