"I fine like tomorrow no dey, I hot like hot pepper soup 😎 I wish I can continue like this till I die", but something is awaiting us as human which is aging.
Anytime I see old people, the first question I always ask is, how will I look like at my old age, but honestly speaking I wish we can skip the old age, it's will be better because sometimes I pity age people due to inability to do what they suppose to do.

A lot of people also want to know how they'll look like at their old age, and thanks to technology, have you heard of FACE-APP. You can use it to generate the prediction of how exactly you'll look like at your old age.

That brought us to main topic topic of today's contest, My sincere appreciation to @hive-168205 for organizing this amazing topic.


At the end of this contest, We'll come to know:

  • medical process behind aging and the starting age.
  • what makes me afraid of aging.
  • Nutritional items that can prevent aging.
  • Exercises that can make someone looks young even at the old age.
    interesting right, let's begin.

WHAT IS THE MEDICAL PROCESS BEHIND AGING AND FROM WHICH AGE IT ACTUALLY STARTS?

This an interesting fact to know about aging because some of us lack the basics knowledge about aging. To make it more easier, simple to understand, let's define this few words👇
👉Chromosome
👉DNA
👉Telomerase
👉Telomeres

  • Chromosome is a thread-like structure in the cell nucleus that contain DNA, as human we have 23 pairs of chromosome, 2 copies of Chromosome one from each parents and also a set of gene.

  • DNA is a molecules that contain the genetic information of the living thing which carries the instructions for how living things develop and function. DNA is what makes us unique, like a resemblance with our parents and grandparents.

  • Telomerase is known as the enzymes that help to maintain the end of chromosome, take note.

  • Telomeres is known as the protective end of chromosome. The main causes of aging is that the Telomeres gets shorter anytime there's a cell division, after some time, this shortening can lead to dead cell because the telomeres is too short, we'll get back to these.

I hope you all understand this important term; chromosome, DNA, Telomerase and Telomeres.

Now naturally, ageing is a biological process over a time, I have explain how DNA works, now this is what really happened, when DNA is damaged by molecules and cellular process, the damage accumulates and eventually leads to the physical signs of ageing we commonly see, like, wrinkles and grey hair.


I also explain the terms telomerase and telomeres, and I said I will come back to to it, Now , when our body start to produce less telomeres, that's how Telomeres get shortened leading to cellular ageing.

So talking about the age, medically, it's predicted to be from adolescent to adulthood, or maybe I can say from our 20s, and it's a gradually process.


ARE YOU AFRAID OF BECOMING OLDER AND IF YES THEN WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF AGING THAT ARE MAKING YOU AFRAID OF GETTING OLDER?

Yes oo, am so scared of it, imagine how I will look like, I will not be able to do those activities I enjoy now. it's so frustrating. Make list out the challenges which makes be afraid of getting older:

  • Loss of independence. Imagine at that age, I will be depending on somebody, even some minial task i can do on my own, i will asking othera to do for me, to cook na problem, cleaning na wahala.

  • Easy access to sickness. You Know, age people to likely to fall sick frequently because their immune system no longer powerful and active when you're young.And there's a possibility of developing conditions like heart disease and arthritis

  • Am so afraid about the physical changes that come with aging like wrinkles, gray hair, and a loss of
    physical strength to do something .

  • Imagine when I remember how I use to carry bags of rice, only me, but now, to lift 1 little of water is a problem, what kind of life is that? I can't do the things I enjoyed.

WRITE ANY THREE NUTRITIONAL ITEMS THAT CAN PREVENT AGING?

My point is, medically it is believe that these following nutrients am about on mention can help in preventing aging, but even as that, it's doesn't stop aging because it's natural.

  • Eating food that contain antioxidants, it's is believe that help to protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. This free radical are what causes damage to cells and DNA which can cause diseases like cancer and heart disease. Berries, dark leafy greens, and tea are the source of antioxidants.

  • Another nutrients highly recommended is Omega-3 fatty acid, so eating foods like fatty fish, and walnut help to reduce inflammation and also to improved cognitive function maintaining brain and heart health.

  • It is also recommended to consume food high in fiber because it's a type of carbohydrate that the body cannot digest. Fiber is good for gut health and heart disease.It's found in foods like whole grains, vegetable ans fruit.

All the nutrients I mentioned doesn't give the conclusion that it will stop the aging process, it's only subdue the aging process.


WRITE ANY THREE EXERCISES THAT CAN MAKES YOU LOOK YOUNG EVEN IN OLDER AGE?

Exercise in old age, imagine telling an old man "let go and do small press-up" he may likely to laugh. Because at that age their body doesn't allowed them to do what they enjoy to do. But even as that, they're few simple exercises which can help in making someone look younger even on old age.

I remember one Brother in our congregation, we fondly call him "TomBoy" , "the youth" because he's very active even though he's old. He always associate with the youth, and we love his company.

The most common exercise I can recommend is walking because:

  • it help reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes, improve mood and energy levels.

  • it can be done anywhere, every day without risking injury.

ASSOCIATING WITH FRIENDS AND LOVE ONES

in my own opinion I think being interactive with loves ones, friend and family is also a way of boosting a mode of older people. There's one grandma who always like to come to my shop, is not that she doesn't have something to do but it's because she enjoys company with people and I do too.

BEING SUPPORTIVE

Being supportive am talking about is being encouraging, supporting the younger one, and being positive in your words. I have seen many old people who are so abusive, as in, if you price them, you collect 😂 They should live a good life for we young one to learn from, My view though.

In conclusion, we have come to the end of the contest and we have analyse that:

  • aging can only be prevented, but it must come to pass.
  • No independent, physical changes, and inability to do what you enjoy is the common challenges of aging.
  • Eating healthy food that is rich in antioxidants, omega 3 fatty acid and fiber are the nutrients that can prevent aging.
  • walking is the common exercise to look younger even in older age.

Hello @mhizta, how are you doing today? I hope all is well. I can't help but notice that so many steemians are scared of old age. Over in Africa, old age is a prestige and the young takes care of the old. Just prepare for such a moment and keep fear away so that you can have a clear mind to plan ahead. Being supportive is a big gain for the mind, and as such keeps you in good terms with others. This then brings about peace of mind. Walking too is very essential for all groups (young and old).

This is the attitude we should have when it comes to aging. It is going to happen. The best we can do is accept it and make the most of it.

The loss of independence is huge for me. I've always said I don't want to be a burden to anyone.

Hello @mhizta hope you are having a good day..Interesting post. Aging is a natural process we all go through, and it's normal to wonder about it. Technology like FaceApp can give us a peek into the future.

Learning about the medical side of aging, like changes in chromosomes and DNA, is eye-opening. It's cool to understand how our bodies change over time starting from our 20s.

Aging is a natural and inescapable phenomenon that happens to people who are advanced in age. This natural process happens in different people with different rate. The fear of the unknown can make fer the aging period not knowing that it's one of the exciting period.
