CONTEST! Choices! What will it be?
I was born in the capital of Colombia, Bogota, but I grew up on a family farm, in one of the poorest estates in the country. I cannot complain, we didn’t have too much but looking around us we didn’t have too little.
I was always well feed, well dressed, and well educated. I was even spoiled sometimes, and the best way they could do that was by renting a movie for me to watch.
In this small town, with about 10.000 residents, more the double of these in cows, we didn’t have Blockbuster. We had a tiny store with a reduced selection of movies to be rented. My mother used to rent on weekends Disney movies for me to watch, the weekend she rented Beauty and The Beast I watch it 17 times in a row!
There was no cinema around us, but I always wonder how wonderful would it be to watch a movie at the cinema. If I already like it watching on my old tv with a VHS tape, I guess any upgrade would be amazing.
Eventually, we moved to a bigger city, much bigger, with more than 2 million residents, and yes, they have cinemas. I remember perfectly the first time I went to see a movie at the local cinema. My aunt and uncle took my cousins and me to see the animation of Lord of The Rings. We got inside the cinema room and I remember thinking how big everything was, the screen, the chairs, the bucket of popcorn.
We set down one next to the other, I had heart palpitations of excitement. The movie started and even though was family-friendly, the first scene was very violent, so much so that my aunt took us by the arms and drag us out of the room.
I couldn’t believe it, my first time at the cinema and didn’t even see the movie.
I remember as well the second time I went to the cinema, probably because was the first full movie I got to watch. It was The Lion King! What a beautiful movie, what a wonderful experience! I laugh and shouted and cried…and the popcorn with butter was delicious.
I don’t go to the cinema as much as I used to. The last time I went was horrible. The movie was bad, really bad (hope no Start Wars fans reading this post), people were taking selfies and talking on the phone, and the popcorn was so so…I guess I am just getting old.

Oh gosh, Lord of the Rings, not the kind of movie you want to watch with your first visit to the cinema. I'm glad that the Lion King made up for it. (•ิ‿•ิ)
Times are changing and soon cinemas will fall away. I hope not!

Thank you for your Quality post on Steem For Ladies Community, many small areas do not have cinemas, you are very lucky because you can move to a better area, oia lord of the rings animation is the best and if it is played repeatedly on television, then there is no boredom., always success dear... 👍

your upbringing and how movies played a special role in your childhood. It's amazing how simple things like renting a movie can make a big difference in a child's life. I can only imagine how exciting it must have been to finally go to a cinema after moving to a bigger city. I hope you've had the opportunity to enjoy many more movies in cinemas since then.
