Choices! What will it be? #46

I'm really grateful to @patjewell ma'am for giving me opportunity to share my views on the topic Housewife. I'm very excited to participate in the contest 'Choices! What will it be? #46' as this is my thirteenth post in the series. As per the rules of contest I would like to invite two lady fellow Steemians to participate in the contest @eveetim and @comfortpeter

She got promotion in class IX. The country divided. Her family became rootless. She became refugee. She alongwith her family migrated to Calcutta from Dhaka without any preparation.

Her school at Dhaka Kamrunnesa Govt. Girls High School established in 1924 likely to celebrate centenary this year.

She left behind her belongings, friends and childhood except her elder sister and other family members. Why She could not complete her education even though admitted in school in Kolkata. Because she became a house wife.

Now I am also old and naturally liberated to think about her life very explicitly without any shyness and introversion. I never thought how does she gave birth to four children. There were three rooms when I was born, the youngest child of her. Total no of persons were accommodated was fifteen to sixteen including my grandparents.

She also has to teach and help us in homework upto certain stage. She always taught us how to fight back in any circumstances. She was just a pillar of support for us. She was always our moral support as well as courage to go ahead in any venture. Link of my earlier post.

She cooked with fossil fuels for more than twenty years before she was gifted the LPG connection by her brother. Any gadget or appliances were considered as luxury for the conservative family without any considerations.

As a result of that she had breathing problem. She has to cook for about eighteen persons everyday alongwith her sister in law who became widow at early age and not allowed to do everything.

In a traditional family there are “Thirteen festivals in twelve months”, a succession of festivities all the year round. She has to do everything single handedly as my grandfather also expired. All theses occasions demand fasting of the main prayer givers.

Inspite of all these where does she gathered strength and time to work and sholder unending responsibilities of the joint family no one knows. She has a constant state of awareness and always remain positive. She is just 5 feet tall and highest weight of 43 Kg.

As male members were busy in the family business. She has to maintain all social formalities.

Even she was engaged in social work as an active volunteer since early sixties till today. She was facilitated as the active worker of a charitable Organisation at 92 years of age.

She has high business acumen and regularly gave priceless advice to family trading business whenever required.

Now she is proud for many successful grandchildren who are even doing research in States as well as director in MNC.

Her elder sister is just dito her and another very remarkable house wife I have ever seen. Both of them are just complementary to eachother (She is seen at the extreme left).

I have never seen them demanding anything or annoying or upset for lack of anything. They were just working ceaselessly for their family and people surrounding them.

Though she was not formally learned but her education from life is remarkable. She never felt uncomfortable to talk to anyone. Her wit and wisdom is unbelievably stunning.

I have never seen her sick for a day. Work was her only entertainment. Her only amusement was to visit her parents and elder sister. In most of these visits I was her companion.

Lastly she accompanied me in few tours. Link of the post of one such tour My country is unique because of Himalayas. During this tour one night we left her alone.

In last decades nothing has changed except a honourary name called homemaker has been given to housewife.
