#2020Vision Diary: Day 16

in SteemLeo4 years ago (edited)

Deciding to write my daily update a little bit earlier today, because I’ll probably will be a little bit tired later tonight. Pacing myself has really become consistently important over de past weeks and will continue to be part of my daily life for the next month. I like that @pixiepost mentioned time management as a ‘resolution’ in one the post comments a couple of days ago. As humans in today’s age, which I like to call the Society of the Spectacle, much like Guy Debord and Situationist International did in the 60s, we are constantly put under pressure by technological development and commercialization. While I keep pushing myself to become more efficient and watch how people sell courses online, I'm really looking at myself in the mirror and wondering. Do I really want that? And to what extend? Because at a certain point, you can easily lose sight of what is important for you in your life.

For me, it’s the little things that matter. Like my wife pushing my daughter to rehearse her school talk and seeing my daughter battle her mom’s driven side (wanting to practice the talk) and her dad’s playful side (not committing a full 100% because fooling around is much more fun). It is so much fun looking at your children’s behavior and recognizing characteristics from yourself and your partner, both the good and the bad.

But little things sometimes also relate to work. All 3 client meetings I had yesterday were meetings where I felt that we had mutual understanding of what the next steps were going to be. I can’t go into to much detail, but of course I can share a little about my partnership with Ride, an Uber/Lyft like app for Suriname that launched in November 2019. It was great to get a little behind the scenes peak of the traffic the app is already getting just 2 months in and the challenges that they are dealing with which you can’t prepare yourself for beforehand. I think it is awesome what they are doing, which is also why I’m supporting them by linking one of my YouTube concepts to their app. I got to discuss their roadmap with them and advise on the promotional side. I’m really excited and when they release new updates, you can expect me to share them in my daily updates as well.

As for time management, which is was mentioned by @pixiepost, but might also be of interest to @town-crier as entrepreneur, I now only schedule meetings during 3 specific times of the day. At 8.30 AM, straight after I drop off the kids, during lunch time and sort of after office hours (4/5PM). This really helps me not to get disrupted constantly. The 8.30 AM meetings are the ones where I’ll meet the clients at their office, because the traffic is best around that time in the morning. The afternoon meetings are really when the clients don’t want to meet in the morning and are a trigger for me to go straight home after the meeting (which still rarely happens). For the lunch meeting, we now has a different approach. The best thing about those meetings is that they are max 1 hour and always in walking distance of the office (unless the client pays for a different location). Another good thing is they are at lunch time, time that I would have to take a break anyway, so the meetings don’t interfere with my daily schedule.

Trying to keep the daily updates going does help my posting schedule on Social Media a bit as well, but I still seem to plan quite unrealistically and want to do too many things in one day. Luckily I met my deadline on the next episode of my YouTube concept how to go viral, where I give my own twist to YouTube concepts which have been successful on the platform.

Question of the day
Should I upload my videos on Dtube as well? Yes or No and why?

Today’s #2020Vision nomination:
@maryansetro
Maybe time to give it a second try ;)

The #2020Vision Diary is a challenge as part of @pixiepost’s #2020Vision project.
Read more about it here.

My personal twist:
For me the main focus will be on posting 4 things I did every day instead of 4 creative pushups.

That is really good you figured out what times work for you in the meetings & where. It is important to have those times zoned off for only that & then, as you said, there will be minimal distractions as well as disruptions. I am still figuring that out. For me, it is mostly webinars but they are already at set times where I can plan around them. Also, I have a video call conference at least twice a week so that is at a time that mutually works for us. Having these specific times carved out really helps me plan my days, even though it's still a work in progress. I have dedicated some time to figure out what works best & also what times of the day that I am in my flow more, where I am the most productive. It's definitely an interesting journey.

The little things matter to me more as well. I strive for balance (& coffee, lots of coffee) constantly in my days so I can have fun (since I am a bit of a free spirit) but also work hard & smart ;)

Great post! Keep up the awesome work & thank you for continuing to #pushon in the #2020Vision🧚‍♀️🙌💜🦄🌱☕️
