Good day fellow steemains. It's yet another all4one contest and I am glad to be part of this. In this post I will be writing about different fruits and their benefits.

In Efik language spoken in Calabar it is called Mbórò.

Banana is an all year seasonal fruit but it is mainly gotten during the month of October to February. It is quite cheaper during this period.

Benefits of Eating Bananas

  • It is rich in potassium.
    We need potassium foods to help lower Blood Pressure (BP), lower the risk of stroke, keep the bones healthy.

  • It is a good source of Probiotics.
    Probiotics helps eases diarrhea, treats some gastrointestinal infections that may not seem to go away even after taking drugs, and also eases cold and flu.

Some Vitamins and Minerals found in Banana are:

  • Vitamin C - This boost our immune system to work better so we can heal better if any wound.

  • Vitamin B6 - This helps with the body metabolism. During pregnancy, Vitamin B6 helps in the brain development of the child and infancy.

  • Vitamin A - This is good for our vision.

  • Magnesium - This controls Blood Pressure and Sugar level and it also keeps the bones strong.

I buy them mainly from my local market and the price ranges. You can get it as low as #200 for few bunch to as high as #3000 - # 5000 for the complete bunch.

I love Mango so much that I always wait patiently, looking forward to when it will be in season so I can start feasting on them as much as I can before it goes out of season. There are different species of Mangoes. It is mainly in season from April and October. Although, it is spelt as 'Mango' but it is pronounced differently in Efik language.

Benefits of Eating Mangoes

  • Mango is a good source of Folate which is good during pregnancy because it helps in the Fetal growth and development.

  • It contains Vitamin C.

  • It is low in Calories.

  • It contains immune boosting nutrients like - Vitamin A, Vitamin E, several other B Vitamins, and Vitamin K.

  • Mango has nutrients that helps in having a healthy heart, example - Magnesium, Potassium.

It can be bought in the local stores or market. I buy from as low as #200. Depending on the quantity you want, you add up the price.

If you need a fruit that is very rich in Nutrients, Antioxidants, Vitamin A and C, and that cleanses the system, this is one of them.

It is still called Watermelon in Efik. It is a year in year out fruit but mainly available and more juicy during raining season.

You can get sliced Watermelon in the market for as low as N100 upwards but the whole fruit can be gotten depending on the size from N600 upwards, equivalent to .

Benefits of Eating Watermelon

  • It improves the heart's health.

  • Helps you stay hydrated because of the high water content therein.

  • Contains Magnesium, Potassium, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Fiber, Protein, e.t.c.

  • Reduces stress.

  • Aids in skin's health because of the the Vitamin A and vitamin C found therein. These are good sources to having a healthy skin.

  • Improves digestion because of the Fiber and water content.

In conclusion, fruits are very good to our health and has many and different functions they perform to keep the body healthy.

So it is of utmost importance we eat at least "One fruit per day" to keep sickness away.

This is good both to adults and children we all need fruits.

Yes please do. Fruit really do alot. With much fruits in the system, the body becomes healthy by fighting off sickness.
Some of these fruit are even medicinal.

I really enjoyed reading your post @pearlofwisdom the importance of eating fruits cannot be ever-emphasized.I love banana and watermelon so much because they are too nutritious.Mango is nutritious too,but I don't like it because it gives me a running stomach.

Never ooo. Wow, same here. I really love the fruits I mentioned.
Well if Mango perturbs your stomach, maybe you should consider taking them in little quantity. Like 1 is OK for a start. But if you have tried this and it still disturbs you, please just let go. There are other fruits that contain some or more of the same nutrients.
