What do you see from the image above?

This rare smile is one you get from a lively class. Feel the positivity, the willingness to learn, the joy the derive from learning and the willingness to carry out class activities. What then did I do as a teacher, what were the results, and what were the strength and weaknesses of creating a classroom full of fun?

Let's examine them, one step at a time using this guide questions.

Question 1:
When teaching, what steps will you use to create an active and fun classroom atmosphere?
IMG_20210607_132547 (1).jpeg
An Active Classroom, how?

They are many methods to create an active and fun classroom, some of they methods I employ includes;

  • Using the right mood and tone: studies reveal that the teachers mood somehow, impacts on the students learning. A gloomy teacher would end up getting a dull and tensed classroom. A bright and active teacher would on the other tge other hand boast of a lively and engaging class.

  • Using Incentives/Rewards Learners love to be rewarded, and an attractive incentive. Let me give a vivid example of an incentive; whichever student who gets an A or answer the most questions in class would be taken out for lunch, or get a free exercise book, or be excluded from school labour that week. This strategy Ignites the learning spirit of the learners and would trigger them to go extra miles. Tis in turn creates an active and fun classroom.

  • Stories, Rhymes, Mnemonics, Association with real life, etc: This helps also in producing a fun snd active classroom as it stylishly masks the stress associated with learning .

Thet are many rewards of using this methods as we would see in the next paragraph;

.

Question 2:
What were the results after you implemented these steps, were the students actively involved and happy following your lesson?

Oh Yes, i got a lively and fun filled classroom after using this three steps. I felt everyone including the apathetic backbenchers were carried along and this was a thing of pride and happiness to me as a teacher.

Question 3:
In your opinion, what are the weaknesses and strengths of the strategies you have used?

The strength of my methods lies in its ability to:

  • Develop a positive teacher - student environment
  • use of stories, rhymes, real life applications, etc aids easy understanding and application of concept that may seem abstract or too profound.
  • the use of incentives and rewards drives the learners to do their very best
  • It also makes learning enjoyable, easy and fun.

Despite this attractive advantage,
some weaknesses rear their heads notable amongst them are;

  • Class control may becomes too difficult as fear for the teacher is substituted with fervour.

  • It may also be hard to get the students attention towards the major points as they may be too engrossed in the activity given, the story told or even the teachers mood.

  • Also, Noise and distractions also just got easier. As the trouble makers won't miss causing trouble admist the fun.

Conclusion

For a conclusion I would say, to get the best while having an active and fun classroom, it is necessary to place the carrot and the stick. I.e; As a teacher flexibility is required, Be ready to discipline the learners when they err abd reward them when theybdo well. @basil20, @usoro01 and @whizzybro4eva my fellow teachers.

@jhonjairo,

You made me smile. Thanks for the appealing comment. Also I have to say you're right when you say, you don't have to shout as a teacher.... The right tone is all you need. You really are worthy of the label " Teacher"

You have used very good strategies to make your class fun, encourage children, give prizes, explain topics by telling stories related to life. This is a very good method. Succeed in the competition.

Oh @aviral123,
You're such a blessing, thank you for your positive review on my methods. I believe you'll make a fine teacher.

You've shared beautiful and applicable strategies to create an engaging learning environment.

It can be tough to get each child to have fun while learning, but that's majorly the role of a teacher to see that it works.

Nice entry, namey. All the best.

Gifts and funny stories, Children like humorous teachers, I'm sure they will enjoy studying with him...
I remember when I was still at school, when boredom came, my teacher came and what did he say? "Have you seen me standing here since earlier? I was watching you but you didn't think about my feelings at all... 🤣
Instantly we laughed and we were excited again...

That was indeed an experience. That's the kind of teachers students love. Though caution too needs to be exercised as too much fun drags the students focus away from the main lesson. Thank you @liasteem, for your comments I really appreciate it.
