RE: Contest 4.01: Looking Back/Look Forward #ccc | A Living Kidney Donor

in CCC3 years ago (edited)

I find it a big sacrifice what you did and strange the match was that high. It can only happen with twins. I understand it gave your brother 6 more months and these 6 months weren't free of fear, medication, medical checks. For you these checks are still there for the rest of your life.

The good thing about kidney and liver is no one needs to die to give.
I do wonder what you will do if your own child will need a kidney.

My children and I discussed organ donation, we do on a frequently basis. We decided we will not give but also not accept organs from someone else.

Many die in a terrible way, the receivers are on meds and a part doesn't feel happy but miserable mixed with guilt.
We believe there's a time to live and one to die and we have to do it with that fact. If time is up it's up and age has nothing to do with it.

It takes courage to do what you did, next to hoping for the best. Your article did not inspire me to do the same but that's me. I can not live with the idea of someone dying for me.

An organ donation if it matches is only for a few years. After that every few years someone new needs to die to make it possible for one person to grow old. In general 5 people to make one live 25 years... I find this knowledge shocking.

Kidneys and liver are the most asked organs. They can be given by people alive but in most cases this is not the case.
Those having an accident already by entrance in certain hospitals are labeled as organ donors, are kept "alive" are not treated and die while they feel how organs are pulled out of them (no narcose)... Family of those donors are shocked if they see the pain on the face of their beloved one and frequently complain more organs were taken as agreed.
Since this is a business, a horrible one, where rich even pay to get an organ asap, people are kidnapped for it and left behind for dead and it's no free choice who gets your organ for me this is enough reason to say no. Me and my family signed a codicil against donor organs. No giving, no accepting.

My hat off for what you did.

Thanks for sharing this story and I am sorry for your lost.

I know that everyone is not willing to donate a part of their organs but if you see your loved one who suffers a lot and needs help I, as a Christian knows in my heart what to do and is willing to sacrifice to extend the life of a loved one even for just a while. I love my brother so much and I don't want to turn his plea asking for help in order to live that is why I gave a part of me which is my right kidney. People can live even for one kidney. Just take good extra care of yourself if you only have one kidney and everybody should even if you have a complete organ. Health is wealth as we all know that.

I understand your point of view, that is your opinion. Thank you for having said that.

I don't think being a christian has anything to do with it. There are christians who refuse a foctor's help, blood transfusions because they are a Christian.

I understand your point of view too but I still wonder how you feel if your child needs a kidney.
Health is wealth indeed and I know all about it. 🍀👍💖
I hope you and your family stay healthy.
