Daily pet photography: missing my orange cats, แมวส้มที่บ้านสวน

The rainy season has started one month early this year. The amount of rain was just too much which caused flooding and land slides in several towns in Thailand. Luckily we didn’t live nearby any mountains or natural waterways, but the dirt roads around the farmhouse became muddy and slippery. This rain should be good for replenishing underground water in the area. The forest trees have been growing like crazy in this month! I could hardly see the house from the road!

As it rained heavily almost everyday, I was quite concerned about my orange cats. The strong wind would blow rain water everywhere making it very difficult to find dry places for a good nap. The soaking wet garden wouldn’t be suitable and there weren’t many dry corners around the kitchen on the ground floor. My cats would usually sleep on the reading table in the east corner whenever I was at the farmhouse. They would sleep very deeply without any concern for stray cats or dogs around my presence.

So, I couldn’t help feeling sorry for them on rainy days. But there’s were wild cats being born in the woods nearby my house. The mother cat had disappeared for three years and it took me several months to tame her kittens. I was very lucky to be able to connect with these cats as they turned out to be very sensitive, polite and considerate cats I have ever encountered. They have now become my friends and companions. I hope that they would be safe, strong and healthy for many years and live happily at my house till their old age.

ปีนี้ฝนมาเร็วมากกว่าปกติเกือบเดือน. และฝนก็ตกหนักราวกับฟ้ารั่ว. หลายจังหวัดมีปัญหานํ้าท่วม ต้นไม้โค่น ดินถล่มปิดถนน เราโชคดีที่ไม่ได้อยู่ใกล้ภูเขา หรือทางน้ำไหลลงจากที่สูง แต่ฝนตกหนักเกือบทุกวัน ทำให้ถนนแฉะและลื่นมาก. ต้นไม้ในบ้านก็โตเร็วมาก จนเราแทบจะไม่เห็นบ้านจากถนน น้ำฝนจะไปเติมแหล่งน้ำใต้ดินให้เต็ม ซึ่งก็ดีมากสำหรับการมีแหล่งน้ำบาดาลสะสมไว้ใช้ต่อไปในอนาคต. เราคงมีงานต้องทำ คือการตัดแต่งต้นไม้กิ่งไม้ในอีกสองเดือน

ฝนฟ้า และลมแรง ทำให้แมวส้มต้องเจอปัญหาในการหามีซ่อน และที่นอนที่แห้งและปลอดภัย. เวลาเราอยู่ที่บ้านสวน แมวส้มจะมานอนบนโต๊ะที่ทิศตะวันออกในบ้าน. ตอนนี้โต้กลายเป็นที่นอนประจำของแมวแล้ว. พวกแมวจะนอนหลับนานและลึกมาก เพราะไม่ต้องกังวลเรื่องแมวจรจัด หรือสุนัขสองตัวที่ชอบแอบมาแกล้งไล่แมวบ่อยมากขึ้น. เราคอยดูแลความปลอดภัยของแมวเสมอ และเราก็มีความรู้สึกไวมาก ว่ามีแมวแปลกหน้ามาแอบกินอาหาร และก่อกวนแมวส้มหรือเปล่า. แมวส้มกลัวแมวต่างถิ่นมาก แต่ไม่เรียกให้เราออกมาช่วยไล่ออกไป เราจะเห็นสุนัขที่แอบย่องเข้ามาเงียบๆก่อนแมวเสมอ

เราก็หวังว่าแมวส้มจะแข็งแรง ปลอดภัย และมีความสุขสงบ อาศัยอยู่กับเราที่บ้านสวนต่อไปอีกหลายปี เราก็หวังว่าเราจะสามารถดูแลแมวส้มให้ปลอดภัยและสุขภาพแข็งแรงต่อไปอีกหลายสิบปี
