Weekly Report as a Country Representative from Nigeria

in Steem POD Team2 years ago

Introduction

The Steem ecosystem has been occupied by numerous activities in the just-ended week and I have adequately contributed my quota to those activities, as a Country Representative from Nigeria, it's time to share with you some of my activities throughout the week. Let's get to it!

Contribution to Users' Growth

I'm one of a few that cares about what users write in the ecosystem and whenever I see an article that appeared to be barely 300 words or pushed to hit that mark, it gets me thinking users can actually do better with more quality creating content. This necessitated the contest that is aimed at seeing users looking beyond that 300 words and improving the quality of their content. During the mid of the week, I distributed a total of 12 SP to the winners of the contest.

Supporting Nigerians via Comments and Upvotes

The week ending has been well utilized to support Nigerians via comments and upvotes from my account, likewise, I have moderated articles in the Steem4Nigeria community utilizing the community standard and upvoting through the community account is one of the things I have participated over the week. My activities go beyond the community and other activities I was involved in are:

  • Participating in one of the engagement challenge contests, I could have done more but my schedule was quite tight.

  • I have supported a few articles by other nationals with comments and upvotes.

  • I continued my work as a moderator in the Crypto Academy taking enough time to verify articles and leaving quality comments on users' entries.

Community Curator Role

I had an extra curation schedule at the mid-week with the Team 2 community curators handling the SC05 account. As a leader of the team, the final data collection and writing the report solely rest on my shoulder and I give my best to present a wonderful curation report for the team activities in the first week.

I have team members that are understandable and comply with the rules, I had emphasized a few times the need why curators should look beyond their Patriots when selecting top articles for their respective days, quality must win regardless of where the user comes from, this would promote a transparent system and it's quite great to see the team members doing their best on that.

The Hovering Storm

The mid of the week was filled with news from different Nigerians who are asking for the way forward having seen a few accounts powering down. I encouraged Nigerians not to bother about the happenings rather they should continue with their daily routines on the platform, highlighting nothing was wrong with Steemit as some of them thought earlier.

I had a very busy week but I created some time to put it into writing in the quest to address the issues and encourage users not to power down.

Account Stats

My resources have not been idle over the week and I have made new growth. I will be utilizing the table below to show some important stats about my account, liike Voting CSI, Reputation, Owned SP, and Club Status.

BasisResult
Club Status#club75
Owned SP18,190 SP
Reputation Score73.8
Voting CSI16.1 ( 0.00 % self, 160 upvotes, 89 accounts, last 7d )

New Project

In my last report, I added some future plans but when is the future, it's now. I have just developed a new project named Feed the Orphans, it's all about giving to the children at the orphanage homes across this state of the federation, I had highlighted in the last report that it would be spearheaded by Steemit.

I have a passion for taking care of the needy and that's what birthed the idea I believe that it would also spread the good news about Steemit in Nigeria. I had kick-started the project using my personal funds and in my own little way, I visited an orphanage, Little Angels of Fatima Catholic Home, located at What3words Location, donating stuff like Detergents 850g (2x), bathing soap (10pcs), diapers (2 packs) and tissue papers 2x (12 Pieces).

Stuff delivered to the Orphanage

Letter of Acknowledgement and Appreciation from the home
Arrival at the Orphanage with my Branded Steemit Shirt

I have included in the visit form that I am a Steemit CR in Nigeria, It's quite a bit unfortunate that the Catholic Sister in charge of the orphanage wasn't available, I guess they have programs for the day being Sunday. The gifts were received by the workers that are taking care of the kids in the orphanage. The stuff taken to the orphanage cost 4,690 NGN (29 STEEM). Sorry, I shared a few images in this piece.

Where do we go from here:

  • Creation of an account in the next few hours where rewards beneficiary from my account would be shared to facilitate more on the project. The account would be utilized to make updates about the project across the state while users who have an interest in the project can assist us in the long by setting beneficiaries.

  • I will approach a few communities to allow their members to assist us on this, I'm just being technical on not affecting the affairs of some communities.

  • Creation of a new community for the project. I somehow considered this unnecessary.

  • To ensure I'm doing the right thing, a suggestion on what method will work well with the Steemit team's vision would be welcomed (this is a humble request), such that I perfect it from the beginning without creating more unnecessary burdens.

Then, I may be declaring the new project in a few hours or days sharing its aim and how we intend to achieve it and making a name for Steemit where it's not known yet in Nigeria. This idea was conceived many months ago but I held back due to certain reasons, I guess I shouldn't hold back any longer, it should be made a reality.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it's another fruitful week and I hope you agree with me that it was. It's a great pleasure to have been able to push some of my intended projects and I look forward to seeing more breakthroughs for Steemit in this part of the world. Thanks for reading and recommendations would be highly valued as regards a few requests above.

Good luck with the Feed the Orphans project.

Maybe you can ask all the Nigerians that are powering down at present to contribute to the project funds...

@reminiscence01, @focusnow, @whitestallion, @samuel20, @ijelady, @udyliciouz, @ijelady, @meymeyshops, @beautybb etc

And particularly from their community accounts... @steemalive, @campusconnectng

You have a big job on your hands 😀

Thanks for the wishes on the project and the recommendation also is well-appreciated @steemcurator01.

I will put in the effort to carry out the charity project with any resources I can pull together, it might be one of the sacrifices I would do for the love of Steemit. Once again, I do appreciate your response to my humble request. We #steem-on.

Am so suprised that @steemcurator01 knows me even to my wallet but i hardly get a chance to get his support no matter what i do in this platform. Well is well.

We can make the world a better place for all, even with a little effort, I hope my plans would contribute to other lives through Steemit. Thank you, @goodybest. We #steem-on.

Thanks for contributing your own quota to the steemit community especially in the area of reviewing articles and guiding users.

I also appreciate the article you shared about power down to calm the hearts of the users.

Your idea about assisting the less previllaged in our country is a good one.

I suggest that a new account be created for that. I also do not think it is necessary to create a new community for that purpose. Having it as an arm of Steem4Nigeria community will be great.

Even if you don't solicit for help from other communities, whoever that wants to assist can still assist irrespective of announcing it in other communities.

You have a good heart. Thanks for all you do for steemit and for us Nigerians. I wish you success in your endeavors especially for the upcoming week.

Thanks for appreciating some of my activities in the just-ended week and I'm glad to know that you found value in this project and for showing your support for it. You have encouraged me via this meaningful interaction and I look forward to doing more.

For the suggestion and all, it's well appreciated. Thank you, @ngoenyi.

Greetings sir @fredquantum, this is a very nice project you have embarked on as a CR here in Nigeria. With this type of initiative, a lot more users will likely join the platform and also render assistant to the orphans. I have this same plans in the nearest future but i'm glad you have kick started it already. Creating account where beneficiary will be set with regards to this project will go a long way and also i believe you will be updating the progress of everything via the account so as to generate more funds. Keep it up sir. #steem-on

Utilizing the resources at hand to help many lives should be our utmost priority, I'm glad you have reasoned the same way. I had pended this for a longer period due to some reasons, now it's going live. Thanks for your time on this, @simonnwigwe.

Thanks for testifying to some of my interactions with other user's content in the ecosystem. As regards the charity projects, it's been part of me to genuinely help others and I'm happy I can now do more via Steemit. I appreciate the wishes, @josepha.

I'm one of a few that cares about what users write in the ecosystem and whenever I see an article that appeared to be barely 300 words or pushed to hit that mark, it gets me thinking users can actually do better with more quality creating content.

I bear you witness on that sir. Your efforts towards striving to make steemians write qualitative contents can never be overemphasized, and i believe that was the more reason you organized the contest "beyond 300 words".

The good lord will continue to reward your effort. Personally i am blessed by your activities on this platform.

You know reading through that piece that seems it was all written under just 30 minutes hits differently, lol, yes it does. That necessitated the contest while I believed users can actually do better.

I honestly appreciate your wishes on this. Thanks, @ishayachris.

Thank you, @ripon0630. We should try as much as possible to show love to the less privileged, we never can tell how much it would impact them positively. I appreciate your interaction on this. I wish you the blessings of God.
