Language, our language changes and so does the meaning of words. At first, it was popular to use a word like 'kid', 'hubby', 'gaming' but next it became annoying. The word 'kid' feels not right. It's like seeing a 70+ year old wearing the outfit of a teenager or driving a Porsche. It doesn't make you more attractive or modern if you adopt foreign words, an abbreviation of a word, into your native language. Especially not if you have no idea what the meaning of the word is or what the right translation of it in your own language is.
This is the case today and why there are many complaints. Children use English words but do no longer know what the Dutch translation is. They use words in the wrong context and although 'gaming' and other words are frequently used (heard in songs too) the knowledge of the English language is far below average. They cannot speak proper English, do not understand it, are not able to translate what they read or hear.
Foreign tv channels and all those English songs today's children, teenagers grow up with do not help to increase the knowledge of the English language. The sad truth is the present youth can hardly read and write Dutch or English. Their knowledge, grammar included, is five if not ten times worse than two generations ago which is something to be worried about. The education most children receive is not good enough if entire generations are raised with the most basic thing as a language.

And that is a problem, because in each language the words have different cultural meanings.
Today education is very hurt, I suppose that by the intention of teaching quickly and without conscience anything, and teachers earn money.
It is indeed. We should go back to basics. Own language and maths first.
