Now I Understood...

I really can't help myself when it comes to giving compliments. They just come out. I guess it is in my nature to find something good about a person... how they look today, how they did a good job, driving, cleaning my teeth, customer service on the phone... it's like a thank you for doing something nicely. If someone tries to compliment me I just pray for them. "Krishna (name of God) will protect you." and laugh.

They were a bit shorthanded at the market. I purchased a 25 pound bag of organic carrots. My vehicle was parked very far away. I do that so there is no one parks next to it. People can be careless and bang the sides up getting in and out of theirs. The man working at the store asked, "Do you need help with that?" The bag was heavy for me.

"Yes." But my car is parked kind of far away.

"That's alright." He wheeled the cart and I directed. I thought maybe he just wanted to get a little break from being inside the store. A little fresh air. I noticed his name tag. He was the manager. It was a very busy, large store. I found it awesome that the manager was so service oriented. Then it made sense to me why the cashier had answered me the way she did when I asked her (complimented the store), "Why is this such nice store? The atmosphere is always so pleasant and friendly."

"The management."

Yes. Now I understood why she said that. Here was the head of management helping a little old lady with a bag of carrots. I told him about the conversation with the cashier, looking up at him fully in the face smiling. "It's the management."

I think he blushed slightly. It must have been something like a mother telling her son he was good boy.
